Zebra Legacy: Oberheim emulation?

I heard Oberheim patches the other day and I was amazed. I want/NEED these lush ambient strings!

For about the same price I could get Zebra Legacy, though, so I'm wondering if I could get Oberheim-ish PRESETS that are pretty darn close to the Sonic Projects OP-X PO-II? I need something where I won't get lost trying to get sound out, so I'm specifying PRESETS.

You could definitely get this sound in Zebra, and I’m sure someone around here has already made some presets in that style or would be willing to for fun, I’d like to have em too!!

some quick strings presets played in zebra, for an idea of what zebra strings sound like. But Zebra is so flexible, there's a million ways they could sound.

In terms of all the other obx sounds, can totally do them in Zebra.

ZebraHZ also comes with a lot of great string patches, and you’d have access to all of them and more. Zebra Legacy is truly one of the best values on the market right now

With Zebra Legacy, you can use ZebraHZ, which comes with Diva filters. One of the Diva filters is actually an emulation of Oberheim filters (They call it Uhbie). So you can have 4 Oberheim Filters in Zebra.

I actually played in bands with great synth players that played Oberheims.
If you can wait for the next sale the GForce OB-E definitely sounds the closest to a actual Oberheim that I’ve heard.

Both are wonderful,both are Oberheims but they are based on different Oberheim synths. This is VI-C so I think having both of these and the GForce SEM is necessary to meet our minimum OB daily requirements.

Pretty close to the real thing. Also, Plugin Alliance have a great SEM emulation, called bx_oberhausen - which goes on sale often for around $30. This emulates an earlier iteration of Tom Oberheim’s synth architecture.

Just a thought: If you're looking to get this very specific Oberheim sound and only that, going with a dedicated emulation will make this much easier.

Personally, I'm not sure if I like to go that route. The big advantage of synths is that you can create a wide range of sounds and make your very own sounds. I don't see that much purpose in as closely emulating a specific sound as "authentic" as possible. Most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. You only need to get into this "signature ballpark" to get the effect of "sounding like".

That's why I'm not using specific synth emulations anymore and instead only a few multi-purpose synth that I learn more extensively. It's also interesting and fun to take an existing patch and just shape it toward another sound signature, by exchanging the filters etc.

Thanks for posting that video btw.! I also really enjoy the sound of those pads, they sound really nice. Maybe I'll try to replicate them, allthough I'm not sure I have the necessary skills to match this quality

Btw. if you haven't done it already: You can demo ZebraHZ quite well. I wonder what you think about presets like "Distant Sun" or other Pad presets by Howard Scarr and/or Hans Zimmer.

Great one, although André fell in love with the OB-X(a) sound and not the SEM sound. I do wholeheartedly recommend the CA stuff though. Affordable and great sounding.

Might be worth checking out the Syntronik OXa, especially if presets are more important than tweekability.
