VSL Mystery release??? (UPDATE: Synchron Duality Strings)

@ed buller I think I'm probably being an idiot, but is there a playback template that is supposed to go with the VEP template (and project?) I'm getting an error about a missing playback template when I try to open your Dorico project. Might be doing something wrong on my end though since it seems to work for others...

Almost all of my music is unfinished because I'm rather chaotic and tend to be too critical of most of the stuff I write, so I usually abandon it after a while to try something new. That means there isn't much to show sadly.

Anyway, I created a new mockup to see how well I could shape a relatively difficult classical piece with Duality Strings using all the different legato/vibrato styles, note attacks, short notes etc.
It was a lot of polishing, but it was nice to find out what can be achieved with this library.

It's the exposition of the first movement of Mozart's 40th symphony: View attachment Mozart 40 Duality.mp3
This is probably the best mock-up of a classical piece I have ever heard on this forum. You manage to capture so many nuances and achieve phrasing very realistiscly. This excerpt from Mozart's 40th would definately add to the demos already available at the VSL site. The existing demos are good but are not really targeting classical music.

Do people experience audio glitch when enabled 3 or more mics when playing fast runs using agile legato?
Yes; something similar happens also in Synchron FX Strings. They are very heavy. Having this issue on a M1 Max … is a bit surprising.

Try following:
- Increase audio interface buffer size
- Increase preload size of sample content in Synchron Player

I have increased the preload size to maximum.

Also, layering SDS and Elite chokes my system to death.

how’s the voicing performance on NVMe over SATA?

Make sure to set it per library instead of the default value (which is only applied to newly installed libraries).

Depends on the library. Dimension libraries and Synchron Pianos will profit most from it; for Synchron libraries it depends on the mic count.

I do set preload size per library.

For mic count, I have 2 mics for each instrument for both SDS and ELITE.

Only If VSL ever comes up with mic merge feature, we will be saved.

This should not be an issue at all. What audio interface are you using at what preload size? Are the libraries located on an external drive?
I have had similar problems lately and I think the performance issues appeared after updating the Synchron player to a new version.
