8Dio Eternal Summer Sale - New Offer Every Day

Can anyone who owns Soundiron's Apocalyptic stuff and the Epic Frame Drums comment on any overlap? I own Damage 2 and APE but I know the Frame Drums are highly thought of.
I've got APE and the Epic Frame Drum Ensemble.

I find EFD to be more detailed, with jingles and jangles here and there, and some hits are quite "precious" to my ears, with a lot of details in the frame drums sounds. I would even call them "intimate", even if there is quite a lot of room sound.
APE is quite versatile, but really shines in the epic, bombastic situations. It sounds fuller, with plenty of bottom-end, but Soundiron recorded more drums, including some phat bass drums. Again, in my opinion :)

Maybe you could check out the instruments list for both?

Here is a quick clip to compare the two. APE first, then EFD. I selected a few sounds to handle the functions of bass drums, snares, hats and toms, without them being actual bass drums, snares and hats (it would have been possible with APE, though, because these sounds are available). The dynamic goes from a velocity of 0 all the way to 127. The clip was normalized, and I made sure both tracks hit approximately the same peak level in dB (but not the same loudness), which kind of depended on the round robin used at each hit of the Play button. The Frame Drum Ensemble is louder, by about 8 dBs. No extra reverb, EQ or compression, just the Standard - All patch from APE and the Main patch from EFD .

It is still very subjective, because I selected the samples in the example. Hope that helps!

Was my goto for a long time, I lean on LAMP more often these days because the way they did things so differently from others fits my brain a bit better.

But these are amazing and at $38 a steal. I would actually STRONGLY recommend the frame drums, holy hell do they sound huge and cut through, haven't found anything that gives me the same feeling as those drums pounding away.
PIcked up the Frame Drums, they do indeed sound pretty damn amazing! No brainer at $38!

Slow again with the changeover today ... so wonder what is coming
Shame Insolidus didnt arrive ... but this new freebie looks interesting

More precise: No change since Friday. I guess they had a well deserved weekend, not only regarding the additional stress concerning the fires around San Francisco. Also one must consider that PST time is now 0:30 in the night :)
So I guess that these sales are not scripted before but manually activated. What explains the differences in times.
Last guess: Like some time before, when deals came "late", there were 2 items at once the next time. So why not today? We'll see in a few hours when their roosters are crowing...

So could anybody familiar with 8dio's strategies comment on the possibility of there being a sale on Century Strings before 2.0 hits?

thanks

I think they did a sale on the century brass when the 2.0 Update hit. They might do the same for the strings.

I keep feeling on the fence about Sax Trio. I've wanted a good sax library for a long time, and this sounds great, with a creamy, smooth tone -- but is that for me? I guess I'd like a sax library that's capable of getting gritty and nasty. (I'm currently eyeing Have Instruments' Sax Fury, but that's not really a straightforward playable sax.) Of the 8dio saxes, I think only Tenor 2 is even trying to go in that direction. BUT I've always loved the arcs and legato of the Claire instruments, so I'm guessing with ten years of additional experience 8dio could really nail these, and there's certainly something to be said for beautiful and smooth.... *Sigh*. 98 bucks is hard to resist....

Anybody have any experience with these saxes? (Or the $49 "Fire" sax, which also sounds pretty good?)

I have the fire sax and the tenor sax. If you've used the Claire woodwinds and appreciate their design with all the different legatos I think you'll appreciate these instruments as well. Neither of them is perfect for every situation but I think they each have a good sound and lots of options.
