Some of My EIS Examples

Funny how certain threads turn (in reference to the EIS snake oil thread). I appreciated Jim V. posting some of his EIS examples. At one time he was writing an example for each lesson which I thought was very cool. Anyway as time has gone I have felt it a good idea to write examples also based on certain areas of the book, if not for anything but to prove to students "you can do this" now make it better! Like Jim everything I do has an EIS basis but these examples use mostly one technique with a few other ideas thrown in for musical variety, so I consider them exercises more than pieces, but am generally happy with the purposed result. These have been done over a period of time so production values vary per example. This is a very small sampling of techniques in the course. As you will notice I have added where in the course the techniques are acquired from. Hope you find this helpful. Be aware that someone else using the same techniques might come up with something so different it might be unrecognizable from my approach, one of great things about the course.

Just as a note, I don't put things on Sound Cloud, I can really hear the graininess, so these may not be here forever.

Tropes Book 11...some people would consider this Serialism but Spud had his own take on it. I am not a big fan of tropes but have done a few cues to cover it.

Awesome, Craig! I can't wait to listen to them. And by the way, your music was one of the things that had me take the plunge in '07 when I was starting with David B.

Thanks Jim and Richard, hopefully this takes a bit of the mystery out of the course.

I am thinking maybe there be a sticky here for EIS examples for specific examples of the course (book 3 L.3 for example) for anyone who wishes to contribute. It might get to be a bit large though. I am hoping this gets implemented on the new site.

Excellent examples Craig - A huge variety of styles and moods. Very cool.

I had emailed you a number of years ago about studying EIS and was assigned a teacher. It didn't work out at that time (no ones fault but my own). Looking seriously at EIS again just need to get a couple ducks in a row.

Thanks for your posts and samples.
Cheers

Craig, I think the stickies is a great idea. I have some I would post and would love an excuse to go back and do some more "complete" versions of some of the exercises I use a lot.

I agree with Carey, Craig. I know I have 4-5 exercises which I should really mockup out, and turn into a cue. This'll kick me in the butt! :)
