This new Federal bill would require AI companies to disclose the content used to train their AI engines. This is exactly the kind of transparency that's necessary to pave the way for artists to get compensated by AI companies that use their works.

The bill doesn't really say anything about artist compensation, but it would impose fines on companies that fail to disclose the source of their data sets.

If the bill gets passed, it's a meaningful step towards holding AI companies accountable for "stealing" the works of human artists.

Fines aren't enough. It's way cheaper and more efficient to illegally use, let's say, Taylor Swift's songs as Pop track models and pay a fine than give her a (substantial) financial compensation.
