I think I'm done for 2024 with hardware. I don't have space for much more without spending more to make more space.

Added this year (not listing gear sold/replaced but there definitely was some:
* RME Digiface USB interface
* Ferrofish Pulse 16 A/D
* Meris Mercury X reverb
* Strymon Zelzah phaser+
* Elysia Karacter Qube saturator
* KVGear Adapt L2 desktop stand
* New desktop light

As noted before, music is not my career, so I need that deskspace for a MBP and other stuff for my "real" job. I wanted to get a 49key MIDI controller but it can't fit in the available space. So I got the Karacter Qube, instead!

Get another 1u rack 😝

Looks great. So tidy considering all the gear you have in a small space!

Behind the desk is still a bit of a mess :)

I've done some organization and was able to get some cables off the ground, but with various powerstrips here and there underneath there's still cables everywhere, it seems. But it is easier to add/remove things with the Pulse 16 in the center and fewer cables on the ground to step on/over when I move the desk out.

Likely one of the most minimalist setups here, but honestly this is all I use. Autonomous standing desk, M-Audio BX3 Graphite 3.5" speakers on risers, Scarlett 2i2 3rd gen audio interface, Arturia Keylab Essential 61 midi controller with faders, (so no real need for a separate expression control unit), 2011 iMac with High Sierra, Ableton 11, chair (not shown), Beyer Dynamic DT770 80ohm headphones (not shown), and 2 Korg Volca's (not shown). I think that covers it all!
An update to my setup. Alogic Clarity 4k 27" monitor, M2 Pro Mac Mini, USB outlet. Still minimalist as ever!

He failed at his "Unified Desk Theory".

:)
I wouldn't hold it against him, since on average, entropy tends to increase. There's not a whole lot you can do to stop the 2nd law of thermodynamics.

It's why I designed a t-shirt that says "I blame entropy", with a picture of Ludwig Boltzmann above it. True story:

Comes on handy whenever my wife starts complaining about dishes, taking out the trash, or forgetting to put the cap back on to a tube of toothpaste.
I point straight to my shirt. 🙋🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Granted, I get that 1000-yard Stare of Death, but after 17 years I know how to dodge that thing like a cat around a cobra, so.. 🕺

Maybe old Albert was onto something...?

I just pulled everything out and re-racked and re-wired my entire studio, took a full week. Looks basically the same but one new desk anyway figure I'd post some pics.

My furniture in the main studio is custom built to my specs by the old KK Audio in LA. The Yamaha Motif keyboard is sunk 3 inches down into the desk so that it is level with the computer keyboard.. because of the Ergorest wrist supports I can use both keyboards with barely moving my arms, it's my solution to the age-old keyboard vs keyboard debate. Couldn't be happier with the one 55" monitor. Upper right rack (4U blank panel) is waiting for the Korg Wavstate that I pre-ordered a few months back.

Left side, mixer desks. New 43" monitor is also great, it's just a mirror of the main for mixing:

I just replaced the 02R96s with new 02R96s. Not very exciting but every 10 years they need to be refurbished for the cost of about $6,000 and I didn't want to be down for a couple weeks... figure it buys me another 10 years with these until I figure out a better option.

Little synth station behind me:

Sound Construction desk in the living room (highly recommended, super solid) used to house some old Tascam DAT, cassette, minidisc, etc, that I never touched. I replaced it with another little synth station I can mess around with, and record of course if needed... everything wired back into the main studio:

Upper left red/green box is a Roland TB-3 it only does one thing but it does that one thing so incredibly well... very useful.

Rest of the "living room":

Three mics on the leslie at all times for quick recording, there's also a Yamaha C3 mic'd up off to the left. Table next to the B3 will hold a Moog Matriarch I ordered but is backordered at Sweetwater.

Studio B has a new desk from AZ Workstations. Very impressed with this desk and the company, highly recommended (and I've gone through a LOT of desks):

The only thing I don't like is the computer keyboard shelf is too high, for me. I would need to figure out a different solution if it was my main studio but otherwise I love it. These are the old 02R96s, they aren't hooked up to anything... may just keep keep or harvest them for parts, not sure.
