So I'm a fan of the Synchron Player and I have SE1 and love it.
I definitely want to go all in with the woodwinds, so I'm buying the full Synchronized Woodwinds very soon.
I will likewise immediately buy a Synchronized Brass if that were released ever (soon?:).

I don't go mad for sampled strings generally in my work so buying any further SE's is a bit of a dilemma. I demoed Dimension Brass so that's one I could get in the meantime I suppose.

Are the 'plus' SE's worth it if I'm not using strings at all? Is SE2 worth it if I'm not using strings and I have the full synchronized woodwind. Help me out here...

The woodwinds and brass get additional articulations as well with the PLUS packages.

I believe that the full versions have all the articulations of vol 1 and 2 and then some...So if you get vol 2 and then the full winds later, I think it's redundant. BTW, would you be able to tell me how much the winds are as an upgrade in your cart since you have the SE vol1? Thanks

I *THINK* he is referring to the ensembles.

So Sy Woodwinds has:
Piccolo
Flute 1 and 2
Viennese and French Oboe
English Horn (French)
Clarinet in Bb 1 and 2
Bass Clarinet
Bassoon 1 and 2
Contrabassoon

SE 2 has:
Flute 2
Alto flute
Viennese oboe
Oboe d’Amore
Small clarinet in Eb
NEW: Clarinet in Bb 2
Basset horn
Alto saxophone
Tenor saxophone
Baritone saxophone
Flute ensemble (3 players)
Oboe ensemble (3 players)
Clarinet ensemble (3 players)

I don't have an answer but why not download a demo of SE2? Also, there's BBO Orion if it's the ensembles you are interested in(which we should get a demo of soon too).

Sorry, I meant to say the plus version of vol 1 is all included in the full version of SY Winds as far as articulations and I believe (if it's like chamber strings), the full SY versions add more dynamic layers and vibrato control. But Vol 2 adds more instruments...choices.. LOL Seems like VSL is structured in a way that works for some, but if you need a "complete" set of instruments, you are then faced with buying multiple volumes. OT does this as well...SF gives you ALL winds in one package, as I'm sure CSW will too. Cinewinds seems to split it up between core and pro...kind of a hard decision really...LOL I hate to feel there are instruments out there I don't have.. LOL

so uh ill be honest i spent a while last night going over the libraries and listening to audio examples. Their website and product layout seems...confusing. I understand this library but i have no clue about any of the others. I went out and got an elicenser because i dont have one, downloaded the demos, and now im even more confused with it all loaded. Does the player not sort by volumes and only sort by instruments? It makes it extremely confusing as i want to pick 1 or 2 libraries that i want to get and i'd have to cross reference all of them on a big grid just to figure out what i want.

Am i the only one or?

The player orders by instrument and you have a search bar on top.

man I had the exact same thoughts, then said it’s actually cool to have them all together. Remember the demos are new for theses. They were intended on separate purchases and knowing what you’re getting. So I think we need to cut them some slack with that part. But I agree the site is ultra confusing. And little information as to the differences between SE and full. Other developers have a comparison chart. VSL needs to have more me for sure.

i plugged in my second monitor to figure out the different versions, was just very overwhelming at first.

An unexpected bonus I discovered with the Synchronized Special Edition Vol. 1 are the beautiful pad/synth presets based on layering acoustic instruments with added FX. Here's a track featuring a subtle use of them along with the VSL Synchron Bosendorfer Upright:

would you be able to do me a favor? For the contrabassoon...mine clicks quite a bit...like a LOT in the mid low register (legato). Can you confirm that yours does or doesn't? I'd appreciate it. thanks.

Mine doesn’t click. Clicking is usually a problem with your interface. My samples only click when I use my onboard sound to test things out

I am using it in standalone mode and there is severe clicking sounds in the low end. If I play legato from C2: C, Eb, F, G then C octave...F, G and C click like crazy...has to be in a legato line...by itself doesn't click. Doesn't seem to be an interface issue..it's the only sound that's given me trouble.

Sure. The discount for me in UK sterling is from £345 to £305.

Beautiful.
The upright is a revelation too. And the effects you mention.

Is that the full version of the Bosendorfor Upright we are hearing i.e with the surround mics?

I'll need to check - I have the full version but I think I used a mix of the standard mics on this track, with some built-in VSL delay & reverb. Will post my settings tomorrow.

The great thing about the Synchron pianos is that you don't miss out on velocity levels or quality by only having the Standard versions. The mics in the full version do give you more scope for shaping the character & depth of the piano in the space of Synchron Stage B.

I own VI special editions 1+ and 2 and I truly love those. I crossgraded Vol. 1 to Synchronized some time ago for the piano. And wow, this piano is breathtaking. This was the only things that I missed in original VI SE. Good piano.

I also think that SE is terrific learning tool. Those samples can show very clearly poor / flat orchestration or missed oportunities. Plus Synchronized edition is wonderful balance teacher :)

And damn, possibility to demo Dimension Strings is tempting...

BTW, Ben, Hope you' ll get a proper recognition from your boss for work you do here :)
