What is your experience with IMDb Pro regarding networking?

Did you get lucky or is it a good and realistic place for those who want to score the first feature film, better than spending this money visiting many other places (like film schools)?

I just use to network with others. Maybe I don't know the main decision maker, but I can use the IMDB Pro feature 'connections' to see if I have had good contact with that person. Sometimes I'm very surprised.
