Sad news regarding Cory Pelizzari - from his friend Sara on YouTube

I'm very sad to hear this. It's been a few years since I last spoke with Cory, he was always upbeat and excited to tell me about the libraries he was planning to review.

He was very polite with his feedback and helpful critiques of my own libraries. We had started to collaborate on a percussion library project but we never got around to completing it. He will be missed.

I’m baffled and really sad to hear this. As so many, I considered Cory as a friend-I-never-met and loved his honest and heart-felt YT video’s. And the short pieces he wrote to demonstrate instruments. A warm, talented guy with admirable integrity.
Fare well, Cory… And check you later.

And of course my sincere condoleances to his family and friends. I am so sorry for this devastating loss. I think it’s safe to say that all our hearts go out to you.
😢

It seems Cory has departed from this world into another.

He was indeed fighting a battle against mental illness, but I will remember him for his amazing demos, invaluable reviews and overall great personnality.

I remember listening to Solonoid demos for Soundiron when I was barely composing myself, he was so influential. Hard to imagine what the world without him will be.

So long, Cory

EDIT: it seems we are quite a number to have been touched by Cory's work and his sudden departure. I would like to turn this into a PSA: mental health is a big issue and often overlooked by the public, and by people who are experiencing it. If you are experiencing mental health issues yourself, there is no shame in seeking help - I've certainly done it myself, there are great specialists out there. If you have a dime to spare, please donate to a charity that's supporting mental health treatment. I'm doing Movember this month, and donated to Movember themselves, but there are other charities out there, including in Australia where Cory is from.
no... Cory.. what..?

I think of you, man! Rest in peace and may you find what you were looking for..

sad news..

Man, I always enjoyed what he did, his video reviews were works of art, and his opinions carried a lot of weight for me. Recently, in a community post on youtube, I noticed he dedicated his last album to Robin Williams, which I didn't take as a positive sign. Rest well, Cory.

Man, this sucks. I liked Cory - I did not know him, but I enjoyed the honesty and straightforwardness his videos brought.

Hey listen - if anyone is struggling, there is help for you. Just because you may feel all is lost - this is not the case. Just because you may feel nobody understands - this is not the case. You may not realize it, but there are people who love you and who care about you. It may not be as obvious to you as it might be to some other people, but you are not alone in this world. If you need help, PLEASE reach out to someone. PLEASE try and get help; taking your own life doesn't help, and it only serves to hurt those aforementioned individuals who love you and who care about you. There is a better way - it may not be easy, but it can be done. PLEASE try.

I'm so very sad to hear this.

I once asked him if he could share a demo piece he wrote for one of his reviews, because it was so lovely and interesting. And he generously provided the audio.

But I think something else that needs to be said is that he was a real innovator in the hear of of this fledgling medium of sample library criticism. I believe I've attempted to describe this this publicly before, but there are qualities to his review work that - in addition to his music and rigour and generosity and everything else mentioned here - he didn't just set the standard for certain qualities of the medium, he invented them.

And these are genuine critical innovations that not only many of us responded to, but that I don't think are going away. Whether or not any particular future reviewer will know exactly where these qualities and structures they echo came from, there are things the Cory simply did first.

And in this sense, his influence will continue to be felt.

My condolences to his loved ones, I hope some of whom might someday read this thread and get some sense of all the ways he will be missed.

In another thread a friend of him mentioned being worried about him
Didn't know about Cory's problems. I feel kinda guilty because of this. Like many others in this thread, I've seen ugly face of depression and just wish I could help somehow.
So, that's that then, like Cory used to say. Gosh I can't even say R.I.P. It doesn't feel right. He will keep living through his work.
I still use his free presets for libraries like CinePerc that fix all the niggles he had with the library, and he never wanted a thing for the time and effort he put in.
Oh yeah, I have those too. One more thing he will be remembered after.

A generous soul and valued member of this community. So very sorry to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace.

Literally in tears.

This really just breaks my heart.

I talked to Cory on the phone a few times, and could tell he was such a unique soul, but was also struggling with some things.

Best reviewer out there, hands down, and an excellent musician.

Fucking hell. What a tragedy.

RIP, my friend.

I’ll also add that he was one hell of a sound designer, and i had the privilege and honor of him reaching out to me to “review” one of his libraries.
