Looking for a percussion library with this type of sound.

Hey all, I am a newb looking for a percussion library that is more on the processed and epic side of the spectrum.

More specifically, the percussion in the following tracks is what I had in mind.

I plan to branch out to wood/metal/cymbal or tuned percussions later but for now, all I want (hopefully using the correct terminology here) are these *thud* and *thwomp* sounds. Obviously epic perc libraries that go for upwards of $700+ would fit the bill but I am looking for:

1.Something that will help me dip my toes in, so to speak.
2.Something I should save up for and buy when the time comes. (Hopefully costs $400 at most.)

From what I've seen Hans Zimmer percussion from SF sounds similar enough, but I couldn't find any other budget or non-budget perc library that sounds like this (the bass drums just don't even come close to cutting it in most libraries I've seen.) Would especially appreciate help finding a budget library that I can at least play/experiment with, but regardless, If you have a similar sounding library that you enjoy, as long as it isn't egregiously expensive, I would appreciate hearing about it. Thanks!!

(Also, a shout out to Trevor Morris, he really killed it in this game's ost)

Heavyocity Master Sessions and/or Damage 2. All on sale right now.

Damage 2 ($299): https://heavyocity.com/product/damage-2/
Master Sessions Suite ($199): (broken link removed)
Master Sessions Ensemble Drums ($74.50): https://heavyocity.com/product/ms-ensembledrums/
Master Sessions Ensemble Ethnic Drums ($74.50): https://heavyocity.com/product/ms-ethnicdrumensembles/

Master Sessions Suite includes ensemble drums, ethnic drums, ensemble metals and ensemble woods.

The "thuds" and "thwomps" are basically layered sounds of multiple different types of drum hits/processed synth hits combined. You can find a ton of info on how to layer those sounds on YouTube.

Master Sessions seems like it is as straight to the point as it will get for my needs. Also, I will definitely check out and learn about layering: Big thanks for pointing towards the technical side of things. It really helps when you don't know what you don't know :D.

+1 for Damage 2, and at the current price it's a must have.
Either Damage 2 or Spitfire Audio Hammers: https://www.spitfireaudio.com/shop/a-z/hammers/
Thanks for the recommendations! Both of them sound good, the spitfire one sounds more spacious and detailed but it is more neutral than Damage 2 when it comes to 'epic'. I think I will grab master sessions and learn about programming percussion to make an educated choice regarding what I should look for. Again, thanks for the help.

It definitely ticks my checklist of thuds and thwomps. I will hold out from investing in anything further until fall/winter when there'll be sales.. Though, I'll definitely look forward to checking it out if it's released by then. Also, thanks for the recommendation!
I'm pushing hard, the library is practically completed. In September I will deliver it to Zero-G for distribution. In the meantime, thank you.

This is really not my playground but if you are looking for a budget version this might be worth looking:

I would take a look on both, Epic percussion 2 and 3, maybe even 2 will do. And good to know: as there is 50% off on 3 if you own 2 it should be even cheaper to get both (I have not tried cause I really have more perc/drum stuff I need, but with buying 2 you should get 50 % off on 3, even on the deals prize now).

I would have gone with Epic percussion 2 (even though I didn't enjoy it that much) if it didn't require the full version of Kontakt as it is a big purchase in and of itself. $19 really is killer value, though.

I see, no kontakt player libs with splashsound, even with the epic percussion 3, sorry if I overread "no full version of kontakt".

Outside of kontakt and on a budget will definitely get complicate I am afraid. I wonder if there is any non-kontakt library mentioned in here so far (not sure if there might be some kontakt player libraries).

Are are some free, and very inexpensive libraries to get you started with that epic sound....

I guess I should’ve specified :P. All of the libraries recommended thus far are kontakt player compatible I think, save for Spitfire hammers, which does its own thing.

Kontakt definitely opens up a lot of possibilities but I am still on the fence about shelling $200 for freebies/entry level samples if I can buy all encompassing/dedicated samples for a similar amount during sales.

In any case, the window of opportunity for epic percussion is going to expire within a few hours and I don’t think I will be making up my mind anytime soon :D

Will definitely check out ferrum. Thank you for the help!
