Just to be clear for everyone, the issues were with the Samsung 840 Evo. The 850 Evo have no reported issues.

John, there was a thread about it. Samsung ackowledged the problem. The fix was a pain in the ass on Mac. I retired and replaced mine. Apparently, experiences vary, but as Remo the mob boss said in "Casino"- "why take a chance?"

that OWC accelsior does look good -- much less than the Intel. Did you compare them before you bought it?

Nope John. Just bought it based on performance of the other OWCs that we had.

Thanks to everyone for suggestions. I ordered three EVO 850s and I'll try one and see how they perform. Sounds as though they will do the trick.
