Audio Plugin Deals Hidden Gems

Good for you. But I have zero issues with Fabfilter, Softube, PA, UADx, Soundtoys, ToneProjects, Arturia, Liquid Sonics, Relab Acustica Audio. And know what, IK go to hell with the issues I have had - really bottom of the list amongst others.
I don't see Izotope, the real resource hogger. But it is what it is man, your system (combination of OS, DAW, Hardware etc...) has a beef with that plugin and that's it. I assume Mixbox is just T-Racks minimized so testing T-Racks may provide bad results too, or not.

But your OS isn't what Apple is providing support now, and they do not care at all, so please, consider that there's an issue with architecture that no one can provide solutions unless you upgrade to one Apple support knows.

Take the L in this, it's not the plugin.

What did customer support say when you reached out to them?
Sometimes it takes a while for them to get things sorted out. However, they have always been able to address any of the issues I reached out to them about.
It is waste of time really. It is like buying something for very cheap and then expecting it to be of the premium quality and hope for the best service. I mean over years working with audio software (20+) - I have been in contact with many vendor's support, was pointing out on bugs, proposing changes and was reporting bugs or misbehaviour. Do I want it to do for IK Multimedia MixBox? Nope.

Thanks Cap! I am absolutely aware what system I am running and how.

iZotope stuff (I have and use many of their stuff) could be resource hog (requires longer buffer but that's it), but it doesn't crash or do noise burst.

The other plug-in that was lead to channel in Cubase to overload (and choke - I think it is sort of Cubase overload protection) in the very same manner MixBox did - was Spire vst3 version.
So I was using perfectly fine vst2 version, and guess what? Checked after one year, and recently updated version of vst3 solved the issue completely. So the problem is not in my system. Just stop telling me so guys.

I mean I have 178 licenses on my iLok (some are not activated since I don't use them) and many other software, and only MixBox things produces 0DBFS noise burst (that is freaking dangerous) and corrupts exported files. While everyone keep telling me that my system is bad. LOL

If my system is bad to run this crappy MixBox plug-in (that everyone defending) then let it be it :)

For you. Look, I'm not saying you don't have a problem with the plugin. Your system clearly has issues with it. But your system isn't everyone else's system, so all I'm saying is that it would be nice that if you're going to WARN people against a product, you offer them full disclosure so that they can determine whether or not the issue will apply to them. Especially if you haven't bothered to try to fix the issue because it's only $29 and a "waste of time."

TL;DR: It's the plugin architecture, not your system. But you need to gather everyone using your similar specs to confirm before trashing something.

Mixbox was launched in 2020, so yeah. It's not your system, it's the plugin that they didn't consider you OS version when developing. I'm not trying to be condescending, I upgraded when stuff like that started to happen from my 8 year old system, so bashing whole VSL libraries because I couldn't load more than 3 instruments is not a solution.

Remember, the plural of Anecdote is Anecdotes, not Statistics. (that's condescending  ) so no need to trash a plugin due to your personal experience, that's all we are saying. If you're going to OT the whole thread and talk trash about IK talk about their shitty bill cosby installer. That's a massive piece of the pie who share their feeling.

I understand your point. I just wanted to share that there's a small but serious issue with the software. It's like saying a car is mostly good, but it might have a big problem sometimes. I think people should know about this risk before they decide to use it. Thanks for your thoughts!

Back on track, now it's cool that their homepage has a ranking and well, it's not a hidden gem, but the popularity shown matches the likeness (unlike some algos that promote crap that has low sales and hides in the list)

And the top Developer is...

Impact Soundworks, particularly the World and the Orchestral Bundles are quite nice $99 each -15% today, and well that's why they're in top developers too.

And as it was said, Joshua Bell full, I guess it's cheaper today with the discount than upgrade directly and you keep both versions with no extra fee.

The IK specs for MixBox says:

Mac® (64-bits)

Minimal: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor, 4 GB of RAM (8 GB suggested), macOS 10.10 or newer.
Supported Plug-in formats (64-bit): Audio Units, VST 2, VST 3, AAX.

I have had my Core 2 Duo equipped Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro in like 2007 or 2008 :)
So if I would have still ownded them - they should be rocking MixBox fine.

Was eyeing Joshua Bell Violin as well. Not sure if I need it now.
Also was thinking of getting Arturia Fragments and sell FX Collection since it is the only thing that I keep installed from it...

I just got Mixbox after seeing it here. Didnt know about it before. I got it for 26 and it's one of the best deals I had in my life. Everything sounds good , very easy to use, cpu usage is okay, painless install. Just finished rendering an hour long track with many Mixbox instances and I don't have any issues. 😊

Just a soft warning, the automatic email with the serial works for downloading but doesn't not work with Native Access. I just replied them at support and yes, it takes a while to get an answer, so patience.

Yeah, the serial in the automatic email is too short. It's supposed to be five groups of five characters each, separated by hyphens, but instead it is five groups of four characters, so Native Access of course complains that the serial is wrong and is too short.

Exactly I sent a screen capture where the same window claims that. so it's easy explainable. Maybe, maybe by installing NA 1 it could work, but I won't install it.

I actually tried this about 20 minutes ago on my old laptop that I never use, because I thought the same thing as you, but even NA 1 didn't allow the serial.

They just got back to me with a working code.

And wow, the library is really, really amazing. I had this demo track that I wanted to use a solo violin on but didn't have any that could pull it off, but this one can - it does a perfect job just by me playing it in live, no fuss. Super glad I picked it up.

Yeah, same here. I had the essential so now the full one is happiness. Really playable, right? Check manual for the types of playing settings, and trust that intuition button too.
