Like others have said I have gone to the Discord a couple of times,yesterday was my last visit and I equate the Discord experience similar to a bad Acid trip from decades ago,it’s baffling and borderline incomprehensible…….wtf!
Strange colorful characters continuously waving hello and I keep feeling like I’m lost in a maze,I keep asking myself where am I and how do I get to the right place?
I am trying to understand and find benefits of this Discord experience yesterday was my 3rd attempt(maybe I need better weed)………….So far I just don’t “get it” the amount of time just trying to decipher the correct unmarked path is an surreal internet experience that for me is counterintuitive.

Maybe that's part of why Gen Z likes it so much? If so I wonder what fresh labyrinthine cosmic horrors (of UI, at least) Generation Alpha's going to glom onto....

Thanks for the clues everyone. I was able to find what I needed in Discord to get to the 1.17 version of The Kult. The extra @spektralisk patches were worth the extra effort

But no, I don't expect to become a Discord power user any time soon.

Similar foggy Discord attempts. Everytime I use Downloader it wants to reinstall or Update everything. Latest Download Mgr now installed, and it shows Kult to be 'reinstalled' to be 1.15, NOT 1.17. Reaper shows I already have 1.15 installed. WTF !! Ready to add new Zerus expansion, but not until Kult 1.17 can be installed ! Just 'reinstalled' Love yesterday and Downloader wants to reinstall 1.05 again. This what I call 'DISCORD' !!

This isn't Discord. Hehe. v.1.17 is only available to 'insiders' right now because there is a contest running. In a week, it will be available to everyone via Tracktion and the Tracktion downloader.

The Zerus expansion will work with 1.15, but the 36 extra presets are only available with v.1.17 right now. That will change soon.

The best way to understand Discord (and I am Gen X), is to go to the #read-me-first channel right after you join. It works just like a map in a mall and will navigate you to where you would like to be.

I don't know if this will help, but think of it like a modern IRC. Forget all the colorful characters in the #Welcome channel. Everything else is like a chat channel from the Undernet days.

Yes, and it’s not helped by the fact that it feels like all the interesting conversation is happening in private threads not open to the riff raff like me.

Thru your ( & others') multiple posts, now on Kult 1.17. Adding Zerus and moving forward.

Yes, and it’s not helped by the fact that it feels like all the interesting conversation is happening in private threads not open to the riff raff like me.

#dawesome-in-the-lab is the place to be. #sound-ceremony is a close second. The MTS-ESP folks have a good technical conversation going on in #mts-esp. #General is a catch all, but some neat stuff pops up from time to time. #sound-design is also a good one.

Pro-tip: join #free-soundpacks and scroll all the way to the top, around mid-november or so. There are gigabytes worth of patches in there for all sorts of synths, not just Dawesome, plus some free ones for Abyss and Novum....Omnisphere, Spire, Ana 2, Rapid, Vital, Serum.

We are creative tool agnostic in the Village. All are 100% welcome all of the time.

Something that is a little more immediate than a forum, but the antithesis to social media. Peter really wants to help people blast off toward their creative potential, even with tools beyond his own.

How exactly is it more synchronous than a forum? Aside from encouraging people to treat it more like a chat room, and being able to host video chats?...

It does seem like something out of the early internet that most people abandoned because it was too chaotic which has now been made exponentially more chaotic... not that chaos is necessarily bad of course (especially if it's organized in attractive ways...).
