SPITFIRE - Symphonic Expansion Pack Firesale This Week Only!

Am I correctly remembering the history with Spitfire Chamber Strings Professional, in which I believe people who bought the expansion prior to the firesale thereof got the Professional version for free, but people who only got the expansion at its firesale price still had to pay something to crossgrade to the Professional version? Whereas people like me who didn't have the expansion at all got a $99 crossgrade to Professional once it was available?

If the above is accurate, and if they follow a similar pattern with the Symphonic series (which I realize isn't guaranteed), then regardless of how enticing this sale is, it seems to me that it could be more cost-efficient for me to wait until the Professional version comes out (especially since, in my case, I don't have the SSD space to actually install the expansions right now anyway).

But if I had the SSD space and any sort of current need for the extra mics, then this sale would be a really, really welcome one.

People with the expansion pack will be upgraded to the professional version for free but people that wait will pay a little more for the professional version than people that pick up the expansion packs now.

It's worth noting that you can buy the expansion packs now and not download them, they will be available for you to download whenever you want (even in years from now)

Are there any plans to improve the legatos?
There's lots of inconsistence in all available legato modes that make it a real pain to use in lots of situations. Despite tweaking the available controls, the timing sometimes is completely messed up...

Please contact us at spitfireaudio.com/support with examples of what you're seeing, if appropriate, it can be logged with our production team to be looked into

FYI, I have SSS and my SSS XP comes out to be $71.68 rather than $99. However that was the only one with extra discount, SSB nor SSW got any more discounts.

Hard to know without looking at your account but I suspect you own some of the component libraries (Mural)

Libraries without expansion:

SSW 71GB
SSS 102GB
SSB 67GB

Libraries with expansion:

SSW 238GB
SSS 254GB
SSB 245GB

All libraries require double the disk space available when installing.

Ben

Wow ! That's a lot of expansion for each library compared to the original size.

I wonder if it makes a huge sonic improvement/difference to have these extra mics ?

Question: can the expansion packs be installed on a different hard drive than the core SSS/SSB/SSW libraries, or do they have to be installed together? (I do have an internal SSD that I don't use for front-line libraries, where I could potentially put these expansions, but only if they don't have to live with the core libraries which are on the external SSDs.)

@SpitfireSupport Can we buy the stringexpansion as a Mural owner, or do our upgrade paths got blocked when Mural was removed from market ?

The cart should do this for you if you're eligible for any further discount, just log in, put what you want in your cart and see. If you're in any doubt at all, contact us at spitfireaudio.com/support. Ben

Yep @SpitfireSupport it does work in the cart, but it says expansion are for owners of symphonic strings or something, while Mural owners for exemple are yet another case
(asking here because others could wonder about this as well)

I owned parts of the woodwinds and brass when they were part of BML so that reduced the price of those two expansion packs quite a lot. Since these are the same samples from BML, does anyone know if I can remove the samples from those older libraries and point the old instruments to the samples from the new versions of the libraries to keep old projects viable? Glancing over a few patches, the naming conventions of the samples seem to be the same. But I wonder if there have been tweaks to the samples.

It sounds like you own some of Mural but never upgraded that to Symphonic Strings, in which case you would need to do that before buying the expansion pack. Ben

I know it's comparing apples with tangerines, but the extra mics and mixes in HZ01 make a great library a truly outstanding one. Doubling the price of that lib just for the extra mics would be a no brainer for me. They're totally worth it.

Anyone with the original Mural care to comment if they've experienced the same with the strings and brass?

@SpitfireSupport could you answer this one?
