Why slave Protools to Logic / Cubase Etc

May be a noob-ish question, but what is the benefit of hosting the movie in pro-tools on another computer, and having it slaved to the main DAW? Will it save significant processing power?

Also, it always seems to be protools that composers are slaving? Any reason why it always seems to be specifically protools?

The industry standard is PT.
Mixing Engineers, Mixing houses, post production, Etc most of them want PT stems.
