Who is Audio Wonder?

I think that is quite unfair. Nobody is accusing him of doing anything criminal.
Hence the use of the word "vaguely". I don't want to be overtly defamatory here, but some further transparency from Olajide regarding these potentially dubious business practices WOULD be helpful.

This is the point completely. I find these types of business practices deplorable and having been one of the people who bought into the whole Scream set only to see it become abandoned for a long time after numerous emails and posts with no response while seeing several new companies pop up with his name attached only to see the same things happening over and over, I believe it's proper to warn people about these business practices.

I almost found his previous post very commendable when he talked about his own faults, making amends and not making the same mistakes. While he has a lot to make up for to gain back lost trust, we've all been in a position like that before where we've needed to make amends for something so I was content to wait and see where things went for him. Then he announces he's shutting AW down (and trying to get those last few sale dollars in) and everything he said went out the window because the likely thing that is going to happen is he will try and open yet another company name to hide behind rather than doing the right thing and earning people's trust back. It's dodgy to the highest level and tells me nothing is going to change.

Personally, I have nothing against the guy himself. I'm sure he's a great person but he has no business at this point being in this business if this is the way he does things.

I think there are a lot assumptions being made so I will set things straight. I am shutting down Audio Wonder because the venture is not profitable. Even more specifically, there are so few sales that I am not able to keep the shopify account open and I would much rather have the cash on hand than to continue keeping a shop open to sell products that no one is interested in buying. Additionally, if I am going to make samples I want to be able to hold myself to a higher standard than what I have set with this brand. If and when I do return to sampling it will be absolutely clear that it is me at the helm, in fact I will probably name any future company after myself to be absolutely clear that it is me. All of my current mailing lists are being deleted as I want full transparency moving forward. This has been a huge learning experience for me and while it has been painful, uncomfortable and embarrassing, I appreciate everybody's feedback in helping me better understand how to better relate to people and improve my business practices.

On another note, everything I have ever released has been recorded by me personally and is under my ownership. So any theories about legal issues similar to icesamples ought to be put to rest.

Olajide -
You promised us and your Scream customers that there would be an update to your scream library to fix some of the issues people emailed and noted to you regarding play-ability. Well we never got an update. Thus I am hesitant to purchase any new libraries from you and dont recommend to others here either because of much dishonesty. Does the 8dio Symphonic Shadows fix these issues and are you able to release an updated version of Scream now to be on par with Symphonic Shadows in the scripting and coding improvements? I'm guessing not or you will just simply ignore our messages again.
I did my best to address the lack of updates in my previous post in this thread. If you missed it the bottom line was that the business model that Private Labs had which was set to a fixed number of licenses did not allow me to invest in updates. It was a mistake to promise updates when I was not in a position to keep that promise. The Scream content is now under the ownership of 8Dio and the only possible update is via the Symphonic Shadows crossgrade (if crossgrade pricing is still available) but it does in fact address the issues and adds much improved functionality to the library.

After reading and remembering what your old customers experienced with your old company and how you managed also the first thread (where you sold your scream library), I hope you will change, but something tells me that you are talking bullshit and I actually don´t believe you one word here. Sorry to say. Let some action walk the long talk. How about that? And of course everybody deserves a second chance, now is your time to make it better...
I have been as honest as I can possibly can be about all of this if you write that off as "bullshit" there is nothing I can do about that. I am not sure what you expect me to do at this point, I have taken complete ownership of my mistakes and made no excuses for anything.

That is fair but for future reference, if you don't want assumptions made like that then you need to be more clear about what is going on when you post something like that because of exactly what I've responded with being that it wouldn't be the first time you've tried skirting under the radar. Had the post included the explanation you just gave, I wouldn't even have bothered posting what I did.

I certainly can respect wanting to hold yourself to higher standards and I really hope you do. Talk is very cheap in this industry though so make sure you do it right so that the next time around, you have the opportunity to prove us naysayers wrong. I'm a harsh critic but believe me when I say that I truly hope you follow through with what you've said and prove us wrong.

I understand that and I have created a bigger mess by disappearing for a year or so. I was advised to stay away from VI-Control when I sold Private Labs and joined 8Dio which might have been the right call, but it was clearly a mistake to not inform my customers about what was going on. And I appreciate your well wishes, thank you.

In other words, you're making another new company so you can better hide your name so as not to put up with the scrutiny while systematically shafting the AW customers at the same time? This sounds vaguely familiar.
Olajide,
How are we supposed to know as your customer what is and what is not a 'mistake' in your perception if you make such statements and promises? People may buy your product/service based on the statements/promises you made which you must follow through. Nothing has changed and history continues to repeat itself as well as you closing up shop again. You made several excuses and statements in the past during the marketing and release of Scream and you continue to make excuses now to try to explain 'some' things. Whether we believe these excuses or not, this is at no fault of your customer nor should they be burdened or feel pressured from your issues. Your customers aren't making any excuses, they are stating facts and statements you made to them.

If a developer makes a statement and promises the exclusivity of their product to 'X' amount of customers, but then resells their library to a 3rd party for worldwide general public sale, are they obligated to refund back their customers? Some customers may buy the product solely for the limited and exclusive nature of the product for the competitive edge that the developer states such as what Private Labs Audio did. It would seem in every way that they would have to uphold and honor a statement like that since it is also one of the main factors for the sales of your 'marketed as exclusive' products. I purchased all your Scream products (over $300.00+), the main factor being for the exclusive use of the products only to be deceived that it is for a FACT no longer exclusive and resold with better scripting, gui, and pricing. So I in fact I did not get what I paid for - exclusive products. I would have to refund my customers or offer some vouchers to them if I did not uphold my statement which played a large factor in their purchasing decision as a developer of a product.

Some sensible things to do would be to go back and fix the scripting bugs on your Scream library as an update or offer vouchers to your customers who came to your aide buying all your products to support you and your company.

Agreed. Had you been forward about the deal you were making early on and the reasoning, we likely would have been much more understanding about it. Remaining quiet is one of the worst things a company can do because it angers the customers so much worse than being up front. This is why when something happens such as a product gets delayed, people are more understanding when they are kept in the loop than when they just leave everyone in the dark waiting and not knowing what is going on. Communication is the absolute key to business even if that communication is just letting people know there are delays and why. Embertone's Joshua Bell Violin is a great example of how to handle something like that because they were on the ball with letting people know what was going on.

"go back and fix the scripting bugs on your Scream library"

I think anywhere you can improve or fix your previous libraries (Scream or otherwise) without spending money (ksp scrpiting, Kontakt sample volume and placement adjustments, etc) is a good investment in building trust. Once you have free updates for your past customers that resolves their basic issues, you can start to build a client base again. Anything else, including trashing a company and making a new one, trashing your mailing list, or making new promises; just doesn't work.

It's good that your communicating now, just back it up with some elbow grease and customers will come. Most companies don't make money for a year or two, to pack up several companies in that time only to make new ones that are the same seems a bit rash, and ignores the fact that people remember your actions over the long term more than your words.

Clearly you are asking for the impossible since you know he has sold the libraries you want him to update to 8DIO who have made those updates and are selling the libraries commercially. He has also already said that he has decided that the wind samples are not good enough to release properly.

Fair enough. just trying to suggest ways he can move forward. Opening another company changes nothing, but there are things that will. All the best to you both.

Well this turned into an interesting thread.

While I stand by what I said and my assessment of the woodwinds instrument, my intent was not to drive anyone out of business. At whatever level of quality I may find an instrument and certainly some of mine have been lacking, I have some idea of the effort involved and appreciate that work.

I sincerely hope that Olajide creates a high quality company that earns both respect and sales from the community.

I'm still a bit puzzled why a new company must be formed to release sample libraries whose quality you can stand behind.
Why not just remove the previous products that you don't feel are up to snuff (like you have done) and just continue release your future products under the Audio Wonder label?
