What Piano should I get? (NI Piano sale)

Alicia's Keys is very flexible for all kinds of pop/jazz/rock... I would go for it. If you want to get something that covers cinematic / Thomas Newman later you can look for Woodchester Piano / Midnight Grand.

But my all time vintage favorite is the Best Service Vintage D (when it comes to ballads, solo piano intros, softer parts).

In Studio One Pro 4 the acoustic piano it has sounds amazing (A.M.A.Z.I.N.G)
Which one do you mean?

Doesn't it seem like there suddenly is a wealth of pianos?

UVI's KeySuite
NI's Noire
NI keyboard sale
VST Buzz Ravenscroft sale
Sound Magic's Fazioli Rose
EDIT: 40% off of Spitfire Pianos

What's up with all this?

I've been spending time playing with Key Suite, and I think it is an incredible deal--20 keyboards for $149. And if you already have a UVI piano library, it's $99.

The Una Corda is a speciality instrument. Its not a go to piano.

Of course, my response was predicated on there being, IMO, much better options then the standard NI fare (Grandeur, Maverick, Gentlemen, etc). For a primary piano I’d recommend Embertone’s Walker 1955, or something like that. But Una Corda is an amazing and unique instrument that goes far beyond the standard “felt” piano sound that’s so in vogue these days.

Presence XT: Acoustic Piano Ballad. I removed all effects and I added my own verb. Such a simple vsti but so good.

There is 40% off at spitfire until Sunday for pianos, including the HZ piano

Yeah, I got it at Christmas for that price I think, is Olafur's that worth it? I feel I shouldn't buy it, lol.

Demos (NI) didn't do it for me. I feel they don't have character or soul. Only Alicia's. And Una Corda ofc. Weird.

Alicia's was my goto for a while. Haven't played it for a while though, since having The Maverick. Maybe I should revisit her again.

Why didn't you all tell me that today was Piano Day--88th day of the year? Now I feel dumb.

SFA _ Orchestral Grand Piano seems a cool 'sleeper' here @ $29. Maybe limited needs, but likely good to have ?

only my newb opinion, but I find that I go to Olafur's (and Fractured Sounds' @willbedford Midnight Grand) much more than Una Corda. I quite like Olafur's.

Not sure how this is going to work. I used a midi from EZkeys. I mostly used main mics, though Spitfire needed the close mic or it had way too much reverb. I did not add anything to these, so very raw samples.
1. The Grandeur
2. Una Corda Felt
3. Embertone's Walker Main Mic
4. Hammersmith Pro
5. Ravenscroft

Then this is
1. The Giant
2. Spitfire Orchestral Grand (close mic)
3. The Maverick
4. Alicia's Keys

I apologize for any sound quality issues. I just bounced the tracks. 3 times. I haven't figured out why bouncing gives me a sound at -12.

You're a doll. Thanks for sharing this.
I was gonna say Maverick, but then I heard Alicia's... then the Giant.
Alicia's and the Giant have at the beginning big dynamics (difference between the chords velocity and the melody's). So that's I think better than the Maverick's.
Maverick sound wise might be "better" but it seems it chokes in the lower registers.
For some reason I think Alicia's overall is "better".

I actually like the Vienna, but that is old NI. But mostly I use everything but the NI pianos.
