    Can anyone recommend a trumpet library with typical "beginner player" sounds and effects? I mean things like unsteady notes, too much breath, spit, fart-like sounds, etc.

    Would also be nice if it included some normal shorts and sustains, but not absolutely necessary as I can probably cheat those with VSL.

    thx

    Waverunner Audio has a trumpet currently on sale for £10 that you might want to check out. It includes legato, shorts, and other effects. I wouldn't say it's a beginner player, but I would say that there's an imperfection to the sound that is part of its charm.

    Embertone has a jokey instrument mouth trumpet that might be of use to you.

    You might have some luck checking out Big Cat Orchestra as well, which is free.

    Or maybe start another post to see if anyone on the forum could record it for you.

    It is. :cool::emoji_trumpet::emoji_musical_score:

    I hear $99 Orchestra is developing a library. :whistling:

    a crappy old student trumpet is bound to be about the same price if not cheaper as any library and will be inherently more flexible and better sounding than any virtual instrument.

    I have this and actually kinda love it as an instrument.

    8dio's Misfit series is specifically designed to not sound perfect, and they have a trumpet.

    Here's a demo:

    EDIT: the shorts, starting around 1:15, are kind of comic gold.

    Thanks, the price is certainly right. The demo sounds pretty smooth and professional though.

    Thanks, that's a good idea, though the expense doesn't feel justified as this is being done as a favour to a friend who is pitching an animation job on a children's show.

    But now that you mention it, there's a music store here that would probably rent me one...

    Thanks to everyone who responded! Looks like a combination of renting (for the breaths and spits) and the 8DIO Misfit might give me the range I need for this little demo.

    If you have VSL, have you tried playing around with the 'humanise' settings within Vienna Instruments Pro?
