Yes, check out its Dark Room mode, which emulates vintage hardware
I did this in 2012 with using Kontakt-Sampler as a synthesizer. You know what? It works pretty good!
All sounds I did with the same sample, a taiko-drum-sample.
Linn Drum is indeed the quintessential 80's drum machine. Not that the Stranger Things OST uses a lot of drums, but if you want to create some typical 80's pop or cinematic music it's perfect.
One thing to note is that a lot of big pop stars in the 80's (Prince, Peter Gabriel) used Linn Drum for kick and snare but they brought a drummer into the studio who would play just the hihat/cymbal parts.
I own vLinn, which is a very authentic Linn Drum plugin that I can recommend. It's supposed to emulate all the features and quirks that Linn Drumm had. http://www.alyjameslab.com/alyjameslabvlinn.html
There's also Linn Drum samples (and more 80's goodness) in Addictive Drums Reel Machines, (AD being my go-to plugin for drum kits). https://www.xlnaudio.com/products/adpak/reel_machines
Whoa, Deep Purple Gets Jumped By Beverly Hills Cop...you kick butt!
Thanks Mike. I tried to "fix" my vocals here.
Can I be in your band?
If we're covering '80s drum sounds, then let's add the Simmons SDSV to the list.
