I need to write some country music for a score I'm working on. The budget does not allow for a session player and I need some slide guitar. Can anyone recommend a sample library if a slide guitar/lapsteel library even exists?

All the other guitar stuff I can do or pull off with sample libraries but the slide guitar stuff is proving to be a bit of a headache...any recommendations would be much appreciated!

  5. If you have Omnisphere check out the patch called Glorious Steel.

Wavelore's products (and customers) appear to have been abandoned by the developer. That's a shame, because they are excellent.

    Wavelore GLIDE: Resonator Slide Guitar

    Wavelore Pedal Steel Guitar

There are other Dobro libraries; Indiginus has already been mentioned. 8Dio's Dobro is -- to my ear -- more of a cinematic tool than an attempt to sound like country music. Orange Tree's offering is a lap steel rather than a pedal steel. I'm not aware of any pedal steel libraries other than Wavelore's. I suspect that's because implementing what the pedals do with keyswitches, CC messages, etc., is a real challenge.

The lap steel in Project Sam’s Swing has some beautiful slides if you have it. But I would probably go to Orange Tree’s first too. :)

Another vote for Orange Tree Sample's Lap Steel and Indiginus's Resonator. Use them both in a song and you can get a great modern country feel (since the pedal steel has unfortunately and tragically been tossed to the fire for country radio).

I have reason to suspect that OTS is working on a Dobro, but that doesn't help the OP with his current project.

If true, that would indeed be tragic. Since I'm a fan of classic country and don't listen to anything recent, I can't confirm it.

You should try a"Roli keyboard" and you'll get the "slide effect" with almost any elec guit lib.

I own most of the above, but the badly supported or non supported Wavelore stuff is my favorite. Tends to be cranky stuff but the most realistic.

Wow - this is cool! I have an iPad I never use, but that will now change.

Wavelore's Pedal Steel is really great. Too bad if the developer isn't maintaining the store. I play in an Eagle's tribute band in Nashville and play the Wavelore live on the song Best Of My Love. Our guitar player just grins when he hears it! LOL. Had one of Nashville's well-known steel players come back stage one night going, "okay, where's the steel player?". Great fun.
