Orchestral Panning

Do you still pan instruments with libraries such as EWHO / BBCSO or when mixing and matching libraries. I have in the past just kept everything to its default positions without making any adjustments to panning as understood that many libraries such these have been recorded in situ. However, on reading today It seems many others do still pan instruments using things such as virtual sound stage 2 or stereo panning.

FWIW Sometimes I'll pan things to get them out of the way of the dialogue, sometimes I'll pan things to widen the stereo field (guitars, some synths), and sometimes I'll push things back in the mix via reverb, eq etc to create more space / depth
