Hi there - I am formally a pop and EDM producer - now working on more media and film.
i jsut upgraded my rig to this:

1 x Mac Mini
  • 3.0GHz 6‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i5 (Turbo Boost up to 4.1GHz)
  • 64GB 2666MHz DDR4
  • Intel UHD Graphics 630
  • 512GB SSD storage
  • Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet using RJ-45 connector)
and 1 x MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2012)

• 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
• 16 gb RAM

in users experience would I be better

A). using mac mini as VEP slave and using Pro Tools (my main DAW) on MacBook Pro

or

B). using VEP locally on Mac Mini and Pro Tools and not using MacBook Pro for anything except video playback via videoslave or similar...

any thoughts, experience comments ... most welcome

thanks! Alex

* one small point would be that I will most likely use a couple of local Kontakt instances on option A for ease of tweaking .. some percussion patches etc

Game music!
Honestly, I'd use the Mac Mini for VEP but it has too little RAM to serve any purpose... If you could upgrade it to at least 32Gb then you could use the Macbook for your DAW and Macmini for VEP.

Thanks - but use pro tools in separate rig? Or VEP and PT on Mac mini ?
:)
