:::: What and why is Omnis? ::::

Hey vi-c, I've a lot of samples libraries in progress, a handful of which are part of the one-off, limited bundle, Omnis. Here I'll share updates and more information about what's on the horizon so there's a clear idea of what the bundle not only includes now, but will include. It's a bit of a double-edged sword as the biggest feedback I've had so far is the bundle is too good, it's just kinda how it works as I've come to learn, and with more coming to it this will obviously expand on that. It's odd, but it is what it is, a useful learning curve if nothing else. A chance for a 20% voucher here or there or a free library offering is a better way to go than the chance for a £3600 MacBook Pro. However, 224 have bought the limited-to-300 bundle with a healthy amount last month. So...

:::: Why am I giving away a MacBook Pro? ::::

By 2017 I'd spent a number of years composing for TV (BBC, Channel 4, 5, Sky, Discovery and tons more), trailers, ads helping out on films, etc all alongside travelling the world as a Lionel Messi lookalike (lols). All the while and even as as a youngster making small sample libraries for music for the projects, some of which I won nominations and awards for. It was a cool ride and one I'll get back into, but that summer I took myself out of London to the countryside to teach myself Kontakt coding (big shout out to @d.healey ) and set my sights on developing sample libraries commercially.

Off the back of some great feedback for the 2 French Horns library, in 2018 I launched Waverunner Audio with 'Seven Days' ; seven sample libraries released one-a-day for seven days. This was a fundraiser for the Hometree charity. The turnover was more than I could have imagined with 1000s of you buying. In turn we funded the planting of 100s of trees and I was super excited to have something viable at my fingertips. Two huge, huge sessions were booked in on the back of this success and things were looking kinda cool. I maybe got a bit over excited but wanted to give back, not in a kind of 'oh here's a voucher that will drive engagement and further sales' kind of way, but a huge giveway outside of the usual mould that would give someone a very cool bit of kit. The idea was to provide those that had bought a means to complete their collection and grab pre-orders and as thanks for early adoption be in for a chance to win something special.

I didn't present it in the same way as Seven Days; the initial promo wasn't very strong, but it was designed for those that had already bought, then... most impactful were some personal issues (addressed in the thread here) leading into the pandemic and then losing those sessions because of the pandemic. This meant there was no real follow up or initially planned (and booked) new libraries. I lost my way quite a bit, time passed by... (Also, my marketing skills arent particularly great, I probably shouldn't be quoting Aurora's incredible Glastonbury words in the Alder Solo Strings pre-order thread...)

:::: Horizons ::::

After false starts and restarts, I got to the bottom of the cause of personal issues, did a large amount of sampling sessions and things have had a bit of a refresh. As it stands there are 76 spaces left for this deal, after which things will go back to 'normal'. There will have to be a time limit on this bundle but I'd like to release the Alder Solo Strings before that becomes enforced.

Aside from the Alder Solo Strings addition, there's a huge update for the off-piste piano sample library Alium, and the synth sample library Synth Atlantic in the works. Also the sample library BOBA: Bowed Bass will be making an appearance not too far down the line; a new kind of electric bass sample library featuring bowed articulations including playable legato (it sounds really cool, listen below). With so much going on I thought I'd share some of the journey via some behind-the-scenes goings-on of testing and development in a dedicated thread specifically related to everything you can get in the bundle and what's on the horizon to be included, though again, everyone says what's already there is enough. Adding more isn't a great move really as I suppose it presents the idea it isn't 'finished'. It's well passed finished, it's just growing, anyway, nearly there. The giveaway will be an exciting day! More will be on instagram too.

First up is a work-in-progress demo for the Alium update. The sketch also includes early tests of the legato from BOBA Bowed Bass; this ones for @doctoremmet

The above sketch features wool piano and dulcitone from the upcoming Alium update. Rhodes '73, Kalimba, Rosehip Vibes, Alder Solo Strings, Cello and Violin Struttura, Celestial Guitar, Synth Atlantic and BOBA: Bowed Bass.

All these libraries are available in the Omnis Bundle at a large ("too good!") saving. If you're interested you can check the bundle page here. Please feel free to reach out with any questions at all.

I'm still working on the website to bring more development updates, more about who I am and my sampling approach, support pages etc as well as re-designing the product pages, alongside product design and development. One man teaming it! But please do reach out if you'd like and I'd be happy to chat through any questions you might have or indeed video chat and showcase some of the libraries and library developments.

Quite the wall of text! Thanks for reading,
Ross //

I am working through listening to omnis bundle demo tracks to see how it can fill gaps for me. Have to admit that when I first heard about the bundle in the strings thread, it took me a bit to understand how much is included in it. Seems too good to be true! 😀

Sounds of the Arp 2600 and Juno 60 re-imagined as an instrument for Kontakt.

Essentially a chance for me to get my hands on synth sounds created by my brother, aka CJ Mirra, who off the back of success scoring Apple's pro surfing documentary Make or Break is currently scoring an upcoming huge US TV show (proud brother moment). We sat down and I asked for my favourite sounds from his band Swimming's album Ecatatics International. These comprise the Juno 60 patches. For the Arp 2600 I spent a number of days creating patches routed through various guitar pedals, tape machines and plugins.

The result? Characterful synth sounds to inject into your musical creations with a second LoFi mix for every patch = maximum vibe.

Exploring new techniques and sounds that can inspire and bring new detail to compositions.

On its release, Frozen Piano and its creator, Patrik Herman, caught my eye and ear. Another one-man-team developer looking to explore new sonic territories in sampling. Upon using the library, the one word that came to mind was fun. It's a fun piano library that inspires, and you can't ask for much more than that. Making use of various sampling techniques and layering, Frozen Piano easily lets you sculpt your own piano voicings with ease, and is a joy to play. After chatting with Patrik, I'm super proud to offer Frozen Piano as part of the Omnis Bundle. You can pick it up for $99 (+VAT) or buy it is part of the Omnis Bundle for £189 and pick up 22 other instruments and be entered into a raffle to win a MacBook Pro.
