[NEW] SYized Orchestral Strings

Ben

VSL

One of the last SYNCHRON-ized libraries: Orchestral Strings.
Everything you love from the VI Orchestral Strings is included, tons of articulations, flexibility and the original sound.

Upgrade pricing starts at € 55. Check it out here (make sure you are logged in):

You got me - always loved my VI Orchestral Strings and they sound great here. Also, thanks for the October pricing on Synchronized Solo Strings, much appreciated. The Synchronized Strings special this month is worth a look if folk are still on the fence!

It's the first time I've seen someone sitting so low, but as the sound is good I'll try....
It's the keyboard who's high :)
And it's the best frame I got to make the videos - and I have another master keyboard at the right height for keyboard and piano parts.
Thanks for watching anyway:)

I own VI Orchestral I & II. My base crossgrade price was $56 USD. Uh, duh. Ordered.

Every time VSL has released a new Synchron-ized library the price has been ridiculously low during introductory offers. I have in every case ordered the crossgrade because for the pittance asked it made zero sense to forgo extending the supported life of my previous investments.

I get how frustrated some are at the end of VI. But for me, a meager subsequent investment in each new Synchron-ized introductions has avoided a worst case scenario so long as the Synchron Player is supported. (I confess I like the Synchron Player better anyway, but that is immaterial to the point I am making.)

Oh, and I had a 20 euro coupon for taking a recent VSL survey, so my net price including conversion and any other fees was $40 USD.

Thank you VSL for making such provision for owners of your VI libraries.

I don't own any version of this and I'm seeing $375 for the full product?
Given the apparent completeness and flexibility of this library, if the consistency and quality are anything like the VSL standard, that borders on a no-brainer deal and I'll need to consider it.

This appears priced to expand VSL's user base and should amount to a serious come-hither for those not yet in the VSL stringworld.

Are Orchestral Strings included in the Synchron-ized Package? I was planning to upgrade to the full package but Syd Orch. Strings are listed separately on the VSL website.

Back in the day when VI was the only product, Orchestral Strings were often commented on as the least favorite of the VI Strings libraries (Solo, Chamber, Orchestral, and Appassionata). That said, these comments were only relative to the others, and they were only the opinion of those who expressed them.

You could try the free demo license and see if you find it worth the purchase. You are right, though, the extent of articulations is amazing. I like, too, that unlike the Synchron-ized Solo, Chamber, and Appassionata Strings, Orchestral includes the sordinos.

They were also accused of coldness and sterility compared to other brands. I can say that I lived the opposite experience: having worked for long with strings with backed-in ambience and expression, when I first loaded the SE Orchestral Strings I had a moment of revelation: "these strings are real!"

It's great that they are here again in full strength. Together with MIR, they offer the flexibility one can ask for, in those cases where you don't need the sound of strings recorded in a recording stage.

Yes. Glad to hear the positive opinion voiced.

And yes, one of the main reasons I quickly acted on introductory offers for the Synchron-ized line was it's designed affinity for MIR Pro, something not designed into the Synchron libraries.

Yep, I applied my 20 euro survey coupon as well, so this was a no-brainer, especially with second violins ready to go without extra effort.

I think this leaves just the original non-Dimension Brass libraries to be SYNCHRON-ized?

Test driving this....

Is it just me or does it sound like the staccato and spiccato articulations have been mixed up, particularly in the 'repetitions' slot? The spiccato sounds longer and less 'pointed' to me than the staccato.

And is it normal that the Spicc harsh repetition has almost no velocity sensitivity?

(Also, there's a spelling mistake in Celli > regular > repetitions > static > Auto-speed > start note > "Portao" slow)

Edit: I should have mentioned I'm overall pretty impressed

@Ben, do you know why the choice between Bold and Agile, in the Repetition branch, have not been assigned to the Speed control, for the individual types?

There is a general Auto-Speed control, automatically choosing the different types, but not an Auto-Speed control for Bold and Agile. Is there a reason for this decision?

Another question: are repetitions also included in the basic Short notes, or are they to be explicitly selected from the Repetition branch?

Hi Paolo!
Sorry, besides installation testing I had not spend time with this library, so I can't answer these questions, sorry.
Please contact our support via mail, I'm confident that they will be able to help you with these questions.
