    1. Somehow I made the entire K5 window smaller while poking around, now it doesn't want to let me make it bigger again. Resetting the window size doesn't work - dragging the bottom right corner or the bottom of the window just causes Logic to flash.

    What is going on?

    2. Is there any real-world benefit to overriding the instrument preload size? Does it know whether you're using SSDs or spinning drives?

    TIA

    Hi.

    2. There's a real world benefit to overriding instrument preload size.
If you're low on system ram, (but still have a fast SSD where you store your libraries, or at least your DFD libraries) you can decrease preload size in order to free up your overall available ram and be able to load more instruments.

(I actually had to do this to my system to work a big orchestral project, where the purge samples option was causing more issues than benefits).

It could also be a good option for laptops, where system ram is often low but a SSD can be installed.

    Cheers

Thanks P.N. I'm not running out of RAM, so I'm leaving it alone.

Anyone have any idea about the first issue? It's very frustrating - I only have a small window for Kontakt.

Try the Reset size option in Kontakt's Options->Interface.

Figured it out. I was dragging the Logic window's corner instead of the Kontakt one.

Man. I'm sending my brain back to the factory for warranty service.

    Thanks ED.

Yeah, I was pushing that button. That's why I was confused.

    What a dope. :)
