What's new

I just got my right ear unblocked and LIFE IS GREAT

I went through something similar about a year ago. I know the feeling. Getting both ears back was absolutely glorious! I was surprised how distanced I felt towards my surroundings when I couldn't really hear on my left ear. It was as if I felt less present in the rooms I was in. Also, music making was hell. I tried mixing on headphones and changed direction on them so I listened on first the right channel on my good ear and then the left channel. Not ideal... :)

That reminds me, I'm gonna have a listen to some of my compositions from the last week and probably have a little chuckle to myself

My ears keep blocking up. They will unblock for a bit and block again. It does feel great when they unblock though.

My ears get blocked frequently. It's a gradual wax build up so I don't notice it right a way but over time I'll lose hearing then one day it will be gone. Getting the wax removed is such a relief and when I do I can hear like a teenager again.

I have tinnitus. The Dr found a blockage and removed it.

Now it's worse. :( But I can still live vicariously through success stories! :)
When he removed the wax he may have done it in such a way that it damaged the eardrum. It should subside as the ear drum heals. If not then see if there is any more build up that get left behind. My tinnitus gets worse when there's build up and almost disappears when it's all cleaned out.

I go to a local specialist ear cleaning clinic. They have some equipement called micro suction. It is a fairly recent development. It gets out all the build up of ear wax and anything else that gets in there. I seem to have lots of wax. Unfortunately right now the clinic is not operating because of the pandemic.
There might be a similar clinic near you.
In previous years, old technology, had use ear drops to soften the wax and then get nurse to syringe it out.

Get a qualified doctor to remove the build up.
Unfortunately, it started just before COVID. Getting in to see a doctor is a bit of a pain right now. It isn't totally blocked, just that feeling you get at high altitudes right before you yawn and they unblock. I'm also having a lot of allergy related sinus issues that started around the same time. I've talked to my doctor but their isn't much I can do because I don't react well to antihistamines.

I did a stupid thing and tried to clean my right ear with a cotton bud and ended up getting the cotton stuck near my ear drum. For the past week my life has been living hell. I couldn't for the life of me mix anything and now it feels like i've been given a 2nd chance at life!

Never underestimate a good pair of ears!!!
It's a shame you didn't post when it happened, as i might've been able to help you out.
This has happened to me, and I found online someone suggesting that the way to sort it out is to use another cotton-bud. What you do is wet one of the tips and then roll it out so there is a long wispy tip. All you need to do is to insert the wispy tip very superficially and twist it around. This should then become entangled with the stray fibres from the embedded tip. You can then pull them both out.

Worked for me :2thumbs:

Thanks but this was a long time ago - I think it was there longer than I knew and that was how damage occurred.

Really even though worse, it either varies or my noticing it does, more often than not I don't really notice or think about it, esp if I'm listening to music etc. It's not like I'm in agony or it's overpowering, but in quieter times it can get really old.
