From a 2008 Mac Pro to a 2019 iMac...how to best move data

@gpax-yes, not that I’m skeptical that it’s good advice, but because of having to refer back to a lot of old Projects, a little concerned as to whether clean install is the easiest way to get where I want to go. It probably IS the “right” way to do it.

I’ve always used super duper.
i do my backups regular and when Ive gone to a new computer I’ve just cloned from the back up, G4, 07 MP, 08MP, 10MP and now 017 iMac.
the one time a had an issue, someone suggested installing a fresh Os install then cloning over that. Which worked not sure why.
but yes all plugins carry over, some that need Machine ID will need to be reauthorized. All in all, pretty painless. My brain doesnt even want to fathom redoing every instrument, plugin etc.
I've kept my OS drive at around 160 GB for a long time now.
itunes library on an external drive.
Depending on how many drives u have, maybe do a clone to get u up and running and test it out.
If u have glitches, then do the fresh install.
no matter you decision, we've all had to become computer geeks to do this. Kinda funny
