And just for fun, here's me trying to produce an euphonium choir for a rich mellow brass sound in the 2nd half of this track around 1:54 using: VSL Euphonium Solo + CineBrass Pro's Tuba Solo with small EQ and Chorus effect on with CineBrass Core's Horn A2 mixed with Core's Horn Solo Legato with Spaces Reverb.

Very cool that you mentioned that patch! When I had nothing but GPO I used that patch all over this track:

Wow...very nice. Definitely belongs on a soundtrack!

(PS: Is it rude to suggest possible changes? I would love to hear a wooden flute somewhere in there...if it isn't already there).

    Very nice!

If you have the full version of Kontakt, the french horn ensembles in the Legacy Orchestral library can be pretty mellow. Look for the mod wheel versions.

No, not rude at all, my friend, thank you for the suggestion. This arrangement was for a wind ensemble at a college, but I want to change it now to maybe include uilleann pipes, and some triple-tongued passages in the brass at the build up. A wooden flute would work well here also! Also, a church wants me to arrange this piece for pipe organ and brass but that might have to wait since I am writing them another piece around 6 minutes long for a performance in November.

Indeed, more like a slimmed trial version without limitations.

Imo Wrong. Caspian has 6 FH Horn Patch which is tailored towards energetic brass writing. The lowest dynamic layer is some sort of a filtered mezzoforte layer and you can still here the buzzing undertone. I think Caspian brass is totally great but thats just a wrong recommendation for a mellow lyrical horn sound. Also considering that the patch is very straight without almost any vibrato. The OP should look at Sample Modeling or Berlin Brass Solo Horn or soft sustain patches from the same library, spitfire solo horn would do the job too for such things.

Yeap looks like Berlin brass have dedicated recorded patches for this .. these are not filtered and processed right?

Caspian does sound more like the action brass type.

Spitfire's Albion 2 (Loegria) has some interesting mellow brass patches - sackbutts and euphoniums, tho. not exactly fr horns, but they have a very nice, mellow ensemble brass sound.
