Desert Wind Sound SFX

Hey Everyone,

I will be glad if someone knows how can I find a windy sound sfx (especially wind sounds in an open desert) in my Komplete 12 UCE bundle and other libraries. I've tried to look for it in soundscapes and SFX effects categories in all the Evolves, Damage, Absynth, FM8, Analog Dreams, and Cosmos. I couldn't search more because it took me 4 hours to look for it preset by preset. I even can't find a good windy wav sound online. All are free and sound awful.

I appreciate your help :)

The best ones back in the day were from the Hollywood Edge SFX library. I had most of the major sets and used them often. Luckily today there are some other sources. A Sound Effects has just about anything you need and then some. Here is a link to the Desert Wind Library. HIGH DESERT WINDS

Thanks for sharing the link.

My aim is to find that sound first in my collection and then buy it if it's not there. The library you shared sounds amazing but a bit expensive. I won't hesitate to buy the same library anytime when it doesn't exceed the 30 bucks.

I can't imagine it being it Komplete 12. What part would it be in? Anyway you can buy individual sounds at SOUNDDOGS. The link takes you right to the Desert Winds.

Yeah I can't imagine the same. It's very unfortunate that this humongous library doesn't even contain the very basic SFX sounds.

Thanks Doc for your help !!
Will check the sounddogs right now :)

The free HY filter v.2, and v.3 get you to where you need. Specially the Reso and Formant filters inside it. If more needed, look at https://freesound.org, there you find good wind fx! Look there for felix.blume sound designer, he has really amazing takes!

There are lots of professional libraries that have ambient wind recordings. Here's the result of a search for "wind" at Pro Sound Effects. You can listen to your heart's content and the recordings are US$5.00: https://download.prosoundeffects.com/#!explorer?s=wind

There are several "desert wind" tracks on the first page of the search, although you might want to search "desert wind" as a phrase.

This looks like a good bet. Recorded by Alex Knickerbocker, who works on feature films, at southern California's Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Five minutes long, US$8.00 for 24 bit/48kHz or $12 for 96kHz.

Knickerbocker has a YouTube channel about sound recording and editing if you want to know more about him. His web site lists his film credits. He's a pro and he knows what he's doing.
