My ego is so glad you asked, I did the copy work for the session and sat next to him in the booth during the recording sessions. He used mostly a Sub Phatty and it was a live orchestra, except for little pieces here and there. Jeff Nichols was there, too, and was super excited and had some of his own ideas. David did a great job with it.

hehe.. nice work! Congrats! Did the electronic sounds come mostly from the Sub Phatty? And when my ears don't lie to me i think it was a Chamber orchestra?

I only asked him about the pulsing bass synth, and that's the Phatty. You're half right about the chamber orchestra, it was something like an 8 piece violin section, but it was stacked. It was a stripped-down orchestra, only the instruments that he had written for.

I think that is very interesting. One may think for cinema you just have to fill the whole traditional orchestral score, but it is the script or the history that defines the needs of a musical argumentation. Anyway i liked so much the mix between electronic and orchestral!! Good tension achieved! And how was your work as copyist? i don't know much about that activity.. did you work mostly with Finale or Sibelius?
