Cubase Printing Audio Click Rendering 2 samples too short

We are using Cubase 12 and 13, and using powerful computers running windows 10 and 11. This has happened on every computer we have.

When rendering an audio click track, it will create an audio file that is 1-2 samples shorter than the location range. Its not a problem with where our locators are because we export the audio mixdown and the length is just fine, JUST the click is shorter.

We reached out to steinberg support about this issue and they recommended we turn to the forums for any help/guidence here.

Has anyone else encountered this issue? This has been happening intermittently

I'm sure it must be a small bug Logan, although I'm not in my studio to confirm.

Is this is causing a problem for you besides the (probably annoying) slight file size discrepancy?

Are you using an audio click, and do you have reset data at bar 1?

As far as I can remember, clicks getting slightly cut off at bar 1 has always been an issue, and might have something to do with everything in Cubase kicking into gear when you hit play.

It is quite annoying, but the click tracks here are for our music editor in Pro Tools. She often aligns the end of a suite/cue with the cursor. So having the end of the click track be exactly the same as the full print is very important.

We have been using a workaround by copying the 2nd to last measure of click to the last measure to make sure it ends in the right spot. Then bounce the entire click and use that audio file instead.

So not so much about the file size but rather about the click and audio print being the same length

Reset Data at bar 1? Is there a way to do that automatically? I am a bit confused here-

We haven't seen any issues with the very first click at measure 1 being cut off. But in all reality I haven't been looking to see if that is the case. Perhaps the beginning is being cut off by two clicks and shifting the entire audio file.

I guess that also only works if there's no tempo change over the last bar.

In creating the audio click you're going to "signature track options" and selecting "render audio click between locators", which creates a new audio track called "audio click" in your cubase session?

As I am at my computer now - I've just done exactly that - and actually I'm not seeing a filesize or sample discrepancy to the files subsequently exported.

To be clear, I exported session audio and click (audio track) from the session as separate stems. So actually I've rendered the click once into my CB session - and then again as part of the session exports... and all the rendered files are accurate.

Are you doing it like this?

best,
Chris

Thanks for giving this a shot!

You've done exactly as I usually do, except with one extra step. You exported the Session audio and Click as separate stems. All we usually do is copy the click file directly from the pool.

If exporting stems or any audio mixdown then it should follow the locators and have the correct range. Which is what you just experienced.

For example: This is our 2mx audio print- The length is perfect- 94 Measures

Cubase Printing Audio Click Rendering 2 samples too short

However when I render the audio click this is what I get:
Cubase Printing Audio Click Rendering 2 samples too short

Checking in samples- this is 1 sample shorter than the 2mx.

If I were to export the Audio click by itself to a folder then the length would be correct, but we just rename the file inside of cubase and copy paste that.

This happened just now at my rig.
