I'm a huge Herrmann fan and this is composed using BOI 2 in the idiom of Benny.
Beautiful writing. Only wished it was longer
Awesome piece. I hope my BOI2 demo's turn out this good, just bought it but haven't even composed anything yet (with any library). As Rick Said I wish i could have heard more.
Nice, very subtle
As a fan of BH, that tickled my fancy - good job! I do miss a bit more timbral detail/less hall, but that’s just me.
Excellent vibe... as mentioned, maybe a slight boost to the glock?
Great ears Ned! I actually added Chromaverb to it but I’m going to redo it without the choir and extra reverb.
It’s vibes but yeah I agree
Here is a revised version.
Wow, much more defined, we can better appreciate your work.
@dcoscina Could you elaborate on which patches you used for the strings please ?
I used flautando high string 8ve sustain, flaut low string 8vb, flaut mid String legato to double the melody and the last passage I doubled the ascending string line with solo violin legato.
I used brass continuum ensemble to fortify the lows on the strings which doubles the low string line.
I ended up moving the harp and vibes parts up the octave as they are more exposed in that register than they were before
Oh man, yeah, the second mix is much clearer.
Just for fun I will use the BH Toolkit to see how that measures up to this BOI2 version.
at 22 sec. of your revised piece you added a wonderful embellishment with what sounded like a flute. What patch was that? Your update sounds phenomenal!
That’s actually the harps if you can believe it. On speakers it sounds like flutes but on headphones it’s clear that it’s harps. When I transposed the harp line up the octave that last figure pops out more in the higher range
Here is the BH Toolkit version. I had to re-orchestrate for this library a bit. I'd be interested in knowing which sound you guys prefer. I did finesse the BH Toolkit version and added some things like pizz basses and doubled the string line with concert flute legato but I didn't alter it too much. No choir in this one obviously.
