Well said man, these are good habits to form! I like that you talked about this in terms of orchestration too. I used to 'fix' my careless orchestration with EQ (a lot of times removing mud from too much emphasis in the lower end), but thinking about these things while you write is so much more valuable and rewarding.

Thanks for watching Kyle! Yes you’re right, EQ can be tempting to reach for when something sounds muddy. I find it’s usually an arrangement or orchestration issue first.
