8Dio Vibraphone $18 "From The Studio Orchestral Percussion Series"

8Dio Vibraphone is a featured Instrument from our Studio Percussion Series and uses our advanced technique ‘Groove Sampling™’ that allows you to create hyper-realistic percussive grooves with a single touch of a key. Groove Sampling is a proprietary method developed by 8Dio. The Vibraphone consists of rows of metal bars that are struck with mallets to produce a metallic yet rounded and warm sound in its lower registers and a much brighter sound in its upper registers. The 8Dio Vibraphone contains 12 unique articulations including different types of mallets, brushes as well as bowed playing styles. The different playing techniques give the library incredible versatility with the warmer mallets, more tinny brushes, and drawn out bowed notes. The 12 Articulations and 3 microphone positions (Close, Mid & Far) are all easy-accessed from our front-facing browser. The Vibraphone was meticulously recorded with six different playing styles, including two different mallets, brushes, bowed, and two separate rolls.

The Vibraphone is featured from our Studio Orchestral Percussion library, which contains 6 deep-sampled percussion instruments including the Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, Glockenspiel, Crotales & Tubular Bells. It has always been our mantra to push sampling forward in regard to realism and playability. The Studio Percussion Series is the first series to utilize our proprietary Groove Sampling™ technology, and we really think it is going to make compositions richer and easier to create

The core of the 8Dio Vibraphone revolves around our new and patent-pending Groove Sampling techniques™. Groove Sampling allows you to play the Vibraphone with ultra-realistic sound and precision. All patches come with traditional multi-samples and new groove samples, so you can play and mix them side by side. The Groove Samples can either simply be controlled on your modwheel or via our new built-in Mod-Sequencer. You will never go back. 8Dio Vibraphone takes the concept of deep-sampling to the next level. We recorded the instrument with two different mallets. A soft/felt mallet and a harder/firmer type of mallet – bringing our very different timbres of the instruments. In addition, we also recorded the vibraphone with brush mallets and even bowed them, so you can create strange sustained sounds with the percussion instruments. Great for musical sound design.

The 8Dio Vibraphone comes with a custom-designed built-in browser. The browser offers you access to any articulation with a single click. All the six instruments in this collection are designed this way. The idea is to give you immediate access to anything you want with a single mouse click. We want to shorten the distance between your thought to your creation. One-click and you are set.he 8Dio Vibraphone contains two parallel FX systems. The first one is our new Front-Faced FX, which allows you to control the most fundamental effects from the front panel (ex. Dynamics, Filters, Pitch, Delay, Crusher, and our new Textural Delay). You can also go deeper with our new Chaos FX system, which includes Step-Based Filtering, EQ, Bit-Crusher, Distortion, Dual Stereo-Delay, and an additional convolution system on top of our custom Textural Convolution Delays.

Textural Convolution Delay is a new way of using convolution to create textural delays. The idea is to use non-conventional convolution impulses to augment the existing sound. So when the instrument delays – you will not just get a normal delay of the instrument, but also get the delay and texture of the convolution. This concept is called Textural Convolutions.

This is a lovely sounding and very versatile instrument. You must tweak it a bit to make it fit your tracks. You need to either use the built in gate or your own DAW's tremolo should you want tremolo. The presets that use delays are especially beautiful. Shorten the envelope for jazz solo playing. Be patient with it, program it like crazy and enjoy. It's a little different.

For eighteen bucks I have the sound. Lots of variations. I pulled a Muppet face when I couldn't find any motor controls, but it's such a nice deeply-sampled instrument it doesn't bother me too much. I'll get my wubwub on somehow.

I guess need to put in on the wish list. Sounds great - and for sure a good value it seems.
Especially the time synced groove sampled patches appear attractive for some Mike Oldfield / Steve Reich theme parks.

A beautifully done vibraphone library. An excellent balance of tonal quality, sound design options, and price. I've recently been introduced to the quality of 8dio tonal percussion instruments by "On The House" series. I'll surely keep these several commercial ones released lately on my radar too.
