    Home At Last

Home At Last Hi: Been busy with a lot of non compositional duties and finally found time to complete this work. Still learning to properly balance and master works with large string sections. It's a challenge. Originally I did the recording, balancing and mastering with my Beyer DT880...

    The Journey Home

For this composition I exclusively used the East West Symphonic Orchestra Library. I have an opening and closing theme and an A/B/A main section. I tried to do a light orchestration and not over power the themes. Open to all advice and suggestions as I am still new to using a DAW. I currently...

    wonderful life - orchestral

I definitely enjoyed this work. Reminds me of late romantic English composers such as Arnold Bax. Thought the balance in the mix was spot on and the orchestration excellent. Nice effort.

Hymn For The Children of Sandy Hook

I wrote this track in 2012 as it was easier to express my feelings through music. Seems appropriate again.

    End Titles

This was my first multi track composition that I did in March. All the sounds were sourced from my Yamaha Montage and Yamaha Tyros 3 with the exception of the piano at the end which was Ivory II American D. Right after this I purchased the EastWest Symphonic Orchestra and Symphonic Choirs...

Actually your description makes perfect sense. I could see how that sound would work accompanying the action you described.

    The Hero Returns

Thanks Sarah. Please expand on your comment about the cut at the end of the track, I didn't understand. Do you mean the final Tympani roll and hit? Also I'd welcome any additional pointers on the production level.

    The Hero Returns

I've been listening to a lot members compositions and have enjoyed them. However I realize I'm probably composing in a different style than most. Film music today is more ambient and atmosphere driven and I tend to be drawn towards a more melodic approach. It's just my nature. I hear melodies...

This got liked by 11 separate bots on Soundcloud (and counting)

Dave, that was really pleasant to listen to. I could see this as an opening credits track. Don't disparage your work just because it didn't take long to accomplish it. Sometimes our best inspiration comes suddenly and quickly when we're not getting in the way of our creative self.

The Chase - Orchestral Piece/New Template

Yes very much in the John Williams vein melodically. BTW nice to hear some melody. I also agree your string samples are the weak link in your sounds. But a very nice effort in Orchestration.

Hans Zimmer Strings, a year later...almost

I think this is a very pretty piece of music and I enjoyed it. However I wasn't a fan of the "Sound Design" element. I think it distracted from the beauty of the mood you set. Of course I' may be in the minority in this opinion as HZ is very popular and he loves to use that type of element.

    Two Chords:)) composition

I wasn't bored. You did a good job with just two chords. I'v heard similar in films when there is a need to just support some point of action without getting too dramatic. The accompanying string theme is what ultimately made it work.

    Epic music - Emotional Orchestral

I enjoyed it Danny. I think your mix is perfect. Not too dry. Not too reverberant. Congrats on getting a promoted track.

    Tier Ascent (adventurous orchestral piece)

Very nice orchestration. Use of strings and percussion was spot on.

    The place of all healing

I'm a fan of English Orchestral composers and this piece reminds me of Fredrick Delius. Very even tempered and measured with a small dynamic range evoking nature. Nice job.

    Infidel Armies

I know your intent was to musically depict a moving marching army and in that effort you were successful. I would have liked a little more rhythmic variation possible in the center of the piece especially where the chimes entered. But overall I think the music is true to the title.

    Your experience with sax VI's?

As a Tenor Sax player I have found only one Tenor Sax that is both realistic and expressive and that’s the Super Articulated ones I have on my Yamaha Tyros 3. It was the reason I bought the keyboard. Also for Sampled Sax to sound real you have to play like a Sax player and not a keyboard or...

I also have Emotional Cello and found it quite nice. One of the best. However I actually prefer the Solo Cello in the EW Symphonic Orchestra library especially the Expressive Cello Articulation.

I can. I currently have a trial version of Pianoteq. I found the Bechstein and Steingruber to be the best. You may like others. However neither of those can compare to the Ravenscroft. The low end of the Ravenscroft is magnificent. In every Pianoteq piano the low end is the weakest. Pianoteq is...

    Your favourite Jerry Goldsmith score

I can believe it took only ten minutes. After the haunting trumpet main theme there’s not much else of note. I use to own the full soundtrack CD and only listened to those few tracks that had the main theme.

    Using Compression

Since I started composing and recording several years ago I have very rarely used compression. When I have it’s been on specific instruments and never on the whole work. To me, while it can add some impact, it tends to remove atmosphere and space between instruments as well as make the sound...
