Is Macbook pro i5 capable for sample?

I have a PC with 16 gb of ram. I was thinking still getting the macbook pro i5 8gb (as the i7 16gb is way too expensive for me) and I could use my PC as slave, right? And use Vienna Ensemble Pro. The only problem is that I'm not sure if I should install my Cubase on the mac which would be my...

Is Macbook pro i5 capable for sample?

Do you know if an entry macbook pro i5 8gb is capable for working with samples like Albion one, chamber strings or cinematic studio strings? Some developers make it more clear, others not, but also wanted to first validated with someone that is more familiar with it. Thanks a lot.

Where do you get your hi-res audio reference track downloads from?

And I think it's possible to buy and download MP3 via Amazon for those who don't have CDs and want to reference to the big composers or anyone else.

What's your process for recording/balancing/mixing instruments?

I find myself all the time doing a bit of "mixing" while I record my instruments in my DAW, midi or real instruments. It's quite often I spend a good amount of time changing the levels in the mix and balancing the instruments after I record something (lets say all the strings), and then I go and...

New Mixing Headphones or Studio Monitors

I've been using only Audio Technica m40x as I can't afford a treated room for now. After mixing my first tracks with this headphone and listening the result in other sources (car, laptop, cellphone, very cheap headphones), I had to go back to the mix a couple of times to make some adjusts, but I...

Can you know which library is used in a song when listening to it?

I was watching Rick Beato most recent video and he mentioned that when working on orchestral mockups, he usually layer libraries for the sections with different ambient and sounds (see video below - I timestamped the video, but only to make sure it's at 14m52s) so that the result can be more...

Can you know which library is used in a song when listening to it?

I was wondering which strings, winds and brass libraries I would go for that would be the most versatile as possible. Now in my understanding, the thing with sampling is that you have in fact a performance in time, so with that you will have a specific tone and sound. I was going to Spitfire...

Increasing the final mix volume - Limiter/Maximizer?

When I started recording, between -20.8 (soft parts) and -17.5 (loud parts) in the Peak Meter. So I recorded everything in these levels. But I think at some point when I put the percussion and all, the difference was bigger between soft and loud parts in the peak meter.

Increasing the final mix volume - Limiter/Maximizer?

Well, complementing, maybe I can still work in low levels if I want to do so in order to be more flexible (e.g., when changing things during the recording sessions), but not necessary anyway, and the most important thing is really the balance in the mix and train the ears. Is that correct...

Increasing the final mix volume - Limiter/Maximizer?

I'm sorry, my mistake, in fact I really meant -0.1db on the output level, so that I would avoid any bad distortion, but apparently a -0.5db would be safer. Anyway, now it makes much more sense to me that everything should be handled in the mix as much as possible before going to plug-ins or...

Increasing the final mix volume - Limiter/Maximizer?

While I am still learning about the whole process, I continued searching and apparently I was doing/thinking about it in the wrong way. I think what I really wanted is a tool like Ozone which will give me the threshold option where the compression would start working when the frequencies reached...

Increasing the final mix volume - Limiter/Maximizer?

Hello guys, my first post here, hope in the right place. So, I produced my song using samples and my mix was done in a very low volume, mostly because some of the instrument samples were already in a low volume, but the ones that were not in a low volume I brought the faders down in the mix. So...
