Bottleneck in new PC build, advice?

Oh wow. This was eye-opening. My 3600 RAM was running WAY lower (something like 2600). Entered BIOS and enabled XMP Profile 1 and now it's running at the correct 3600. Cheers!

Bottleneck in new PC build, advice?

Thank you all! The combination of the fixes above seem to have solved the issue (in Cubase, haven't tested Pro Tools or Reaper yet). I'm currently sitting a very nice 64 buffer setting with no dropouts or crackling. ASIO Guard is turned off. Multi-processing turned off in Cubase (VEPro set to 6...

Bottleneck in new PC build, advice?

@Pictus Thank you for the detailed response! Latency mon reports usable for realtime audio, but I'll dive into those numbers to learn more. I also found some corrupt files and repaired them via the command prompt fix. I'll do some testing to see if that solves it and report back. @Collywobbles...

Bottleneck in new PC build, advice?

[Solved, see below] Hi all, Apologies if this is in the incorrect section (seemed appropriate), please let me know if this should go elsewhere. Issue: I recently had an upgraded pc built as I have a rather large template and was hitting cpu bottlenecks. I'm still seemingly bottlenecking...

Reaper and Kontakt doesn't play MIDI correctly, how do I fix this fast?

Thanks, @EvilDragon . Yeah, I was using VST3, but when I eventually changed to VST it worked normally.

Reaper and Kontakt doesn't play MIDI correctly, how do I fix this fast?

I'm having this same exact issue all of a sudden. I've done a reset of my keyboard to ensure it's sending the proper midi channel, re-installed Kontakt, etc. Still happening. And it's only in Kontakt. Hit a note, lift up and the "note off" is triggering another played note, and then it just...

    The Year of Hildur Guðnadóttir

As far as I understand, each category is nominated by academy members of the same category. Final voting, however, is online and academy-wide. They can pick whatever they want, for whatever reason they feel. In a perfect world, each member would approach it analytically and weight the cultural...

    The Year of Hildur Guðnadóttir

Art is subjective. Awards given for art are subjective. There is no official scale of merit or academic check-box that can point to one piece of art being objectively "better" or more deserving of a subjective award. The Academy, by a majority of its voting members, chose their subjective...

    Good VST for epic percussion

Does Red Room generally do a holiday sale? Want to pick this up, but figured I'd wait a week or two if so.

    Most common orchestration mistakes

This is genuinely one of the best threads I've seen on here. Some really great information / insights.

BBC Symphony Orchestra – Available to Pre-Order!

If you don't use key-switching in your workflow (but, rather, individual midi tracks for articulations) it would mean having to use hundreds of instances of the plugin. Whereas, with Kontakt, you'd just load up all the articulations of one particular group per instance, and route their audio...

BBC Symphony Orchestra – Available to Pre-Order!

Assuming that it's sharing/spreading CPU-usage across instances, then?

BBC Symphony Orchestra – Available to Pre-Order!

This sounds amazing. Does anyone know whether or not the Spitfire player can load multiple instruments within one instance and handle multiple midi channels / audio outputs? I only have experience with the Kontakt based Spitfire libraries. (SSO, SSS, SCS, etc.)

    CPU upgrade question

Hey all, I'm currently running an Intel 7700k with the ASUS Tuf Mark II Z270 motherboard. I've maxed out my RAM at 64GB, but I'm finding that my only setback may be that I'm (rarely, but happens) bottlenecking with CPU power. (Windows machine running Reaper and a fairly large template with...

Embertone Releases: Walker 1955 Steinway 'D'

Yes, same. I've upped the voice count and still get consistent note cut-offs while employing the sustain pedal. It's quite jarring when you're "in the zone" so-to-speak.

"Missing/Not installed" library in VE Pro 6 / Not missing in Reaper

(Hope I'm posting this is in the appropriate section.) I recently started using VE Pro6 (single machine) with Reaper, and while I've managed to get most everything working smoothly... there's one hiccup. Embertone Walker 1955 comes up with a "Library not found/installed" message when I try to...

Mike Verta - Orchestration 3 masterclass video

Gotcha! Definitely plan to eventually grab them all, but was wondering more about order of operations, so to speak. Can't wait to dive into these. (As well as Orch 3!)

Mike Verta - Orchestration 3 masterclass video

I've done Orch 1 and 2; Comp 1 and 2, Template Balancing, and Counterpoint so far (all of which have been massively eye-opening and helpful), and was going to branch out into the composer-centric ones. Was thinking about grabbing "Here's Johnny!" or "Simply Silvestri", but this is a pretty...

Mike Verta - Orchestration 3 masterclass video

@mverta, of all the money I've spent on gear and software over the years, the 30 bucks for Composition 1 were among the best I've ever spent. What a great course. I picked up Orchestration 1 immediately afterward! Thank you!

Is there any point getting Read up to 3200MB/s, Write up to 1500MB/s..Can samples utilize this?

Ditto. Needed to expand my SSD storage and was about to grab a 500Gb M.2 Nvme (run my system on one, but had another free port), and now I'm way more confident in just picking up another 1Tb SATA III drive.
