Just a quick update to say I've been finding Wavekit invaluable for sending mixes and tracks to clients. That's a use case I didn't even consider right away. Everyone has found it easy to work with. Big fan.

Don't worry, despite literally years of making music professionally I wasn't fully up on this either, although it's mostly applicable to templates. I think the quick answer is in the (excellent) update notes where Spitfire have listed the patches that have undergone changes and therefore need...

I was trying to work out where the vitriol in this thread was? The shame comments? Coming from Brits that basically means “that’s a little unfortunate” rather than But I agree with the wider point. It’s weird how folk get upset about companies wanting to make a profit.

I've done both methods over the years. TBH, the more stuff you throw up onto iCloud the easier all this becomes. Last month I had to set up a MacBook for general admin tasks. From new OS > iCloud login and done. Downloaded a small handful of key apps and I was good to go. Music software on...

Relaunch Today Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (Strings, Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, Harp & Piano)

Just had another play. I can re-introduce the issue by going back to omni mode. However, for some reason my midi controller was outputting on channel 16. Moving it to channel 1 brought the release tails back, even in Omni mode. So there's a couple of things you can play with right there. 🤞

Relaunch Today Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (Strings, Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, Harp & Piano)

Thanks Blake. This seems to have solved the issue, with the caveat that I needed to reload Kontakt after the settings change and occasionally the tails need a "prod" by moving the dynamics around. I can't find any pattern for the later though... Thanks again!

Relaunch Today Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (Strings, Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, Harp & Piano)

I deleted and re-downloaded (latest update) the entire library onto a newly formatted drive. Probably total overkill.. Yet, I still have the "missing tails" issue throughout the library: As per the example, the shorts have the Air "ring" but the longs are truncated somehow. I don't want to...

Thanks Blake, and fair play for being up at 1am driving support. Whilst your advice has solved the immediate issues, there's still something not quite right post update. It's kinda like the release tails of the various "longs" I tried are "choked" like the library was recorded dry. Happy to...

Well, it looked good on paper. After updating, my SSO instances have lost their GUI and my violin performances patch now sounds like...er...this: I'm not quite sure it captures the magic of Air as it once did. Mac OS Sonoma, M2 Pro, Logic. FWIW. Sigh. I'm going to bed.

    Spitfire Symphony Orchestra

Wasn't one of the technical reasons HZS was moved to a new player (apart from business marketing etc) was the multi-mic issue? The previous SSO Kontakt (for example) had the mics spread across multiple NKIs. Maybe Kontakt 7 has changed that. I dunno. I think that was where Hanu was coming from.

    Sample Library Paralysis

I had the same issue. So I hosed most of it down the drain. Agree with this, especially considering the current price of the basic studio orchestra (with no percussion, single tree source) is only 50 quid shy of the whole SSO bundle. That’s nuts. There’s some really nice stuff in the studio orchestra. Even just bundling all the articulations per...

Sonoma adaptation seems to be taking forever

Occam's razor? The devs are probably keeping an eye on their user OS stats and only allocating resources once a certain threshold is reached. 28. Alex Fraser

    Spitfire Symphony Re-Issue vs. BBCSO

Whilst the sound of the rooms is a personal thing, the flexibility of the performance legatos, sheer range of options and more of well...everything..make SSO the obvious buy at this price point if you're looking for an all-in-one. I'd go as far to say that the re-release of SSO has kinda...

    Spitfire Symphony Re-Issue vs. BBCSO

On your first point, you could make a fair argument that SSO wins out on content, although you get the solo strings in BBCSO. From thereon out, the rest of the questions aren’t really answerable and depend on the use case, skills, needs and ears of the beholder. You'll get a lot of opinions...

    Spitfire Symphony Orchestra

I spent last night comparing the two back to back. On the strings - the ones in SSO go a little further into "film" motto-vib territory. TBH, I like both. Each has a different sound. BBC is drier, more "close" to the listener. SSO is wetter and set further back. At least to my ears. The...

Oh, for sure. I'm not even certain Spitfire considers these prices the "real" ones either. There's only so far I'm willing to go down the analysis black hole though. 😂 As a rough sale example: BBCO Pro @40% discount is £540 Assume that SSO only drops back to its intro price, at least for a...

Hey all. Whilst I wait for (New) SSO to download, I thought I'd task ChatGPT with creating a handy graph. The chart above is (some of) Spitfire's main orchestral ranges in £, at normal prices. Relaunch Today Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (Strings, Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, Harp & Piano)

Let's talk money. At the intro price, this is the same cost as BBCSO Core, which has less content, sampling detail and only one signal. Even at full price - there's not going to be a vast cost gap between the two libraries. So...does this now make SSO the "budget option?"

Relaunch Today Spitfire Symphony Orchestra (Strings, Brass, Woodwind, Percussion, Harp & Piano)

5pm, UK time. As for the reason for the relaunch, best guess is that SFA believe it will generate more income at the newer price point, considering Abbey Road Orch is now available for the moneybags amongst us. That's not a bad thing.
