Kontakt doesn't have to be that expensive if you know what you're doing. Download the free Kontakt player, grab some free stuff and then search around for the 'upgrade Kontakt' threads....there are some free libraries for the free player that enable you to upgrade Kontakt to the full...

This....sometimes stay awake way longer than I should for just this very reason...

Bought yesterday after they extended the sale. Ran thru it last night for a few minutes; was slightly underwhelmed, especially compared to the other Heavyocity products I own. Hopefully I get some more time with it this weekend, planning on a few beers and some track time tomorrow night.

I grabbed the Psaltery yesterday; was used to doing things like this in the background and was doing other things and it kept saying ‘network error’ and stopping. Finally just let it run while watching it and it worked. Maybe give that a shot?

Don’t mean to bump such an old thread guys, but I’m having an issue. I bought this two nights ago and have yet to play it because of missing samples. Basically just the ‘User’ folder, but that's pretty much what I bought it for. Followed instructions, watched YT videos, batch resaved etc...

Interesting read. I checked his YT page, dude hasn't posted any music since 10/2014. He's posted some video game gameplay vids the last few years and that's it. Wonder if he gave up or if he's just not using YT to showcase his work. Twitter profile inactive as well.

No personal experience, but there was a thread last week or so where someone was asking about them, and where to get one. Think they were around $500 new, and pretty well regarded.

I'm running a PC laptop with all the same specs you are.....16GB RAM, i7, 512GB SSD drive, and regularly run 8-10 tracks of Kontakt with anywhere from 2-5 instances on each track, plus all the Slate plugins on each track and the master track, no issues.

Man, the keyboards are DEEP...looks like they listened to people and got rid of the strips for pitch/mod...good deal.

Sorry man....coming from a guitar background, I think in terms of amps, modelers and sims. On the guitar forums the sims are called VSTs, and I thought that's what you were looking for.

Got Damage, Vocalise 2, Mutations 1/2, and Natural Forces. Dig em all, they never let me down.

Good VST is Mercuriall's U530...it's a sim of the Engl e530 preamp, and they have a couple of free boosts as well. Cabs are great and movable in 2D too. Good thing about amp sims is they're usually much cheaper than sample libraries...I think that Merc sim is like $60 or so. You're going to...

Dig it. I like all the Heavyocity stuff I have, and this is no exception. Using it mostly as background washes, but it's pretty deep just for presets, let alone setting up your own patterns. Was worth the $ to me.

Cool thing about NI products, even the Heavyocity stuff, is you can sell em on if they don't work for you.

As a guitarist first and foremost, the favorites for VSTs I've found (and I've tried them all) are Amplitube 4s Mesa Boogie pack, the Orange pack, and two from Mercuriall, the U530 (an Engl e530 sim) and their Spark program......it's 4 different Marshalls with built in FX including a gate...

Doesn't get a ton of press, but Fingerpick from Realitone is really good.

I grabbed it a couple days ago just to see if it made a difference. I like it better than the Slate FG-X for quick stuff. I find that it really wants a clean mix....no compressors, EQ etc....seems to work better that way for quick demos for me, at least.

Agree with your review. Especially the part that it's FUN lol. Makes doing this kind of stuff easier for a noob. I really dig that the main engine is so customizable. Good review!

Got it on a recommendation from a friend....I dig it for the most part.....although the ball does get dirty and drags, no matter how clean your hands are. You're going to have to pop it out once a month at at least (easy to do) and clean out the chamber it sits in. Just dirt, dust and skin...

Mike is a good dude and will get back to you. The only time I have something like that happen is when I move a parent folder and Kontakt can't locate it. I usually point it to where I moved it, it finds it, problem solved. Can you find the files manually, or did you install it and then move...
