    Scoring a SFX heavy scene

Yes get out of the way of the sfx because it's a fight you'll lose on the mixing stage everytime. Find / fill the holes yet try to make it coherent and logical as you would any cue. If someone else is doing sound design, find out who and try to talk to them as much as you can. Finally, no need...

Martin, just write the music you want to make/ that makes you happy. There's no pay or glory in any of this, so unless you are getting paid for a gig, forget what people want. The fact they were received poorly could be a motivator to do it right... show them it can be done! But maybe that's...

Trying to study Daphnis et Chloé

You can use the opening as a test; it's pass/fail... most can't get it right and it's over before it started. (there's supposed to be a really long build and then an explosion.. you can't explode if you're already at 90-95% volume). Boulez is good, but my favorite is the Nezet-Sequin version...

Best synthweighted masterkeyboard with 61 keys, sliders and pitch/modwheel section?

Impulse 61 has served me well for many years, but it's falling apart now. Tried another one at the store but it was completely different from the one I have... loose, cheap, noisy keys, literally no weight at all. What I'm saying is, you can't even rely on reviews... I would've totally...

    Death Metal Bands

Got it. I think you're making it a little too complicated. Very few guys even write from a chord progression outward, think motives (= riff) instead, then find out what key you're in when there's actually a need to know. Mostly it's just fitting similar puzzle pieces together. Structure doesn't...

Hi, Anyone here using the direct monitoring feature on the UR28M? Cubase 9: A little trick to reduce file size (and saving times) of big disabled track templates

Seems I've found yet another way to crash Cubase (toggling between enabled/disabled is what did it this time). I'm getting reeeeally fed up with it tbh.. Thanks for the suggestion anyway, Like @Phillip I gave up on disabled templates a while back and switched (back) to VE but that never worked...

The study of orchestration - international student edition

I'm not 100% sure, but it would be news to me.. No mention of it anywhere during purchase, registration, on the website or in the book. You can mail W.W. Norton to make sure, please let me know what they have to say! I'd be highly surprised though; if that's your business model you owe it to at...

Asio Guard on or off with Cubase 8.5.10?

It's possible to turn it off just for VePro: Head to Plugin manager, select VePro under instruments, and hit that little 'i' in the bottom left corner (apologies if you knew this already, hopefully it will be useful to someone else)

The study of orchestration - international student edition

You can see through it, not enough to be really bothersome but i can 100% see the writing on the next page

    Overdubing CC's in Cubase 9

Yes it's possible but it should be much easier than it is now imo: - Select the controller option in the preferences (-> Record -> MIDI -> Controller (Replace Recording in Editors)) - Set midi record mode to 'replace' - Now for it to work you must record inside the midi roll (have it open while...

Cubase 5, CC editing of multiple Midi tracks.

I can confirm this, not working here either in latest version of C9. Editing notes for all active parts (simultaneously) works but not cc data

U-he Diva 1.4.2 Beta Available for Testing

It should be a demo version until you register with your serial, shame you missed it when it was on sale a couple of months ago! quote from the u-he website: Diva's demo restriction is a mild crackling sound that appears at irregular intervals
