Heh, I know something about getting vocals recorded in Ghana. Find singers for hobby projects

Friends, yes, and friends of friends. "And if you don't have any friends", local Facebook groups seem to still work in some countries, in others most of the action will be sites like Craiglist. You could take an angle like "I'll program orchestral samples for your pop song or metal band in...

What's your favorite unconventional, non-orchestral library?

You're right, I looked at the folder and the folder name is just "Preparato Double Bass" and I remembered it was Xsomething... it's Xperimenta, not Xsample. Actually had to look all the way at the last page of the manual to check, heh.

What's your favorite unconventional, non-orchestral library?

Aside from using my own stuff because that's what I made it for, Soniccouture Glassworks and XSample prepared bass are big favorites. Also often use some of the old Cinematique Klang series and Waverunner, and a lot of the oddities in VCSL.

Anyone have the Soniccouture Hurdy Gurdy?

I've sampled a couple of them and, yeah, the rhythmic part is hard to get right. You can take a look at the Lira Korbowa library for Kontakt (that's Polish for hurdy-gurdy - literally cranked lyre, one small typo away from cobra lyre) - I don't have it, but it is a very high-end instrument...

African Kora - Looking for sample lib with tempo synced material!

I did include some loops in Ghana Drums just because the drummers wanted to record them, and there's a "bonus" folder with freestyles and loops in Nanfo which includes a kora freestyle more for stylistic reference than anything else, but the funny thing is... I don't know what makes a good...

If you really want to go deep into the past, Loops De La Creme's got a prehistoric drum kit. And for something more recent, I have a Proto-Indo-European vocal library. The Skiddaw Stones have been sampled several times, Soniccouture's got the big serious version but IIRC there's at least one...

Phase coherency in multi-mic orchestral sample libraries

I tried it once with a drum kit. Interesting idea on paper, never really made a difference when I used those drums in tracks, though drum mics are not as distant as orchestral ones, and adding delay to make the distant mics back-of-the-hall distant did make things sound definitely different...

Lots, though it's usually mapped to CC4 by default, not CC1, because of old General MIDI standards. I know my freebies do - Big Rusty Drums has something like 6 degrees of openness, Virtuosity Drums has 4 IIRC. Though more metal-oriented drums might not, as a lot of metal drummers will just...

AC-DR from Soniccouture. More drum genius.

I think a lot of the shoegaze drum sound these days is just "grab whatever sampled drums and add heavy compression", it's not terribly unusual kits or processing, but a deeper dive into the Loveless album could be worthwhile. That's engineered so carefully it almost drove the record label...

Oh, I can tell you it's not. I think Doc's a bit older than me, but I also have very Gen X music tastes. A lot of that era had a mixture of human drummers and drum machines, too. "Loveless" for example. Shoegaze is having a revival now with a lot of teenagers making it in DAWs with even the...

How well did VI devs do in sales this year?

Pretty much the usual - 2020 and 2021 were great, 2022 things really went downhill after February, this year about the same as last year but things do seem to have picked up again starting around October. 2022 and 2023 still considerably better than any year before 2020, though.

    Upright acoustic jazz bass options?

My own Vengeful Bass also has non-classical pizz. Same goes for the free Meatbass, it's the same bass just not sampled with as much depth, and plucked even harder - so if nothing else, try the freebie.

Sample library for fast jazz drums?

For free, you could try Virtuosity Drums. It doesn't have brushes or a ride that's deep-sampled sufficiently for the sort of super-dense patterns like in that vid, but does have a ton of snare techniques and we made it with modern jazz drumming in mind - though maybe more freeform, waterfall-style.

Audio Ollie Scoring Synths had that concept of amped and miked synths, too.
