Piano Libraries, we have loves, favourites, unloved, but which one is your go to piano library?

(Meta: I'm afraid given enough time, almost every available product will receive a mention in such a thread, so I wonder how about the information depth for product-questions of that kind.) That said, depending on the style of music I'm after, I usually go with the Emotional Piano or HZP.

    88 keys + 7.5cm or thinner.

I pretty much gave up with regards to the optimal ergonomics. It's just not possible to optimize a computer-keyboard-based recording desk for both a healthy height and a really good (hammer mechanics) keyboard unless you have exceptional carpenter skills. I will stay with the Keylab Essential 88...

    Arturia Pigments 3.0. Any thoughts?

For my DAW, I'm sticking with Mojave on my 2013 Mac Pro for the remainder of its lifetime. I don't really need anything from Catalina on this machine. Musings on keyboard needs

I‘d love to build a PHA4 keyboard right into my desk, alas, no one sells these keybeds without case. And taking it out of a device is probably too much DIY for me.

    Musings on keyboard needs

In my opinion, Roland's keybeds are best of the league. I never played something that translated my playing so well into MIDI than my V-Piano (using PHA III).

    88 keys + 7.5cm or thinner.

That's a great DIY-project, thanks a lot. Two last questions: Did you just glue the wooden blocks on top of the keybed? And, out of interest, can you perhaps compare the TMK88 action with any other existing devices, say, a KOMPLETE KONTROL S model? Best regards!

    88 keys + 7.5cm or thinner.

FWIW, I'm in the same boat as the original poster, although I have 80mm. I just bought a Keylab Essential 88, but can't really recommend it. After taking the caps off, it fits nicely, but the keybed action doesn't feel well – it's lightyears behind the playability of my "gold standard" (KOMPLETE...

    Behringer---Attack of the Clones

I've been working ITB for more than a decade now. Being an admirer of the early Depeche Mode (1981-1985), I really want the Behringer 2600 to add something more playful to my sonic arsenal. While being there, I might also pick up the Neutron and some additional Eurorack modules. I just hope I'm...

    Behringer---Attack of the Clones

Behringer is carrying out a quite clever strategy. Some devices are pretty accurate clones, some are clones++ (devices that fix shortcomings of the originals and carefully go beyond), and some are pretty much just good inventions. Although I don't own a Behringer device yet (and actually after...

Looks sweet. Which height do you have the table surface on? I'd love to replicate such a setup, but I find everything higher than 72cm pretty uncomfortable for my wrists. Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S88 MK2 - the latest edition better?

How do you like the keybed for non-piano instruments, say, strings, brass, woodwinds, and drums? Anyone using Roland V-Synth for sound design?

I used to have one and it was great, but I couldn't stand loading samples. Yes, I'm spoiled by working completely in-the-box these days, that's why a hardware sampler – no matter its capabilities – has a hard time. That said, I'm very tempted by the Waldorf Quantum, which looks to me like a...

Poll: Should Apple release a model between the Mac Pro and the Mac Mini?

I'm pretty sure they will introduce a mid-tier model eventually, but this year they had to make a bold statement. Versatile Choir

Strezov's Wotan and Freya are my go-tos for more dramatic scenes, joined by the recently published Cinesamples Voices of War. I think though that the first two can also shine in more subtle usecases. Other than that, Fluffy Audio's Dominus Choir has a lovely tone and is very versatile.

What's on your Spitfire Christmas Wish List?

Well, I love it, because of the way it resonates in the Air studio, but it is very large (tons of mic options I don‘t use) and the playability is not matching its price. Still my goto for everything but the most intimate passages (for which I‘m using Emotional Piano).
