R4 introduced density modulation, which is nice because it doesn't alter the pitch (like chorus etc does). Maybe it's similar to the old Lexicon spin or wander parameters. I'd imagine that's quite hard or impossible to apply to a fixed IR.

On the Expert Sleepers legacy downloads page it says plugins are 32/64 bit, but this version 1.03 from 2010 just gets ignored by Logic's plugin validator. It's not that it's not passing, it's as if it's not there. My only other AU application would be Final Cut Pro. The same happens there.

It's a good idea! The latest version of Expert Sleeper's Latency Fixer I found is on the legacy downloads page and is from 2010. It doesn't work here with Logic/Catalina. Are there other, 64 bit compatible latency fixers? Cheers Dom

If you are using the AU version (like in Logic, or potentially VEP) then it's very easy. Just remove the Kontakt 5 plugin from the components (plugins) folder, and any existing Kontakt 5 instance will now automatically load in Kontakt 6. AFAIK the VST version can't do this.

How does it work when you edit the CCs on a PC and the use it on a Mac? Do the assignments get written into the hardware, or is there a preference file to be transferred to the Mac? Also, there is an A / B switch. Is it possible to run Mackie Control mode on A, and Midi mode on B for example?

I just checked on my rig. Logic does indeed not send useful data while scrubbing. Pro Tools for example can't scrub along. It goes back and forth by 1-2 secs all the time in a mess. I just never noticed, as I never use 'scrubbing', but instead the key-commands 'fast forward', 'forward'...

For scrubbing you need MMC. Have you got it enabled on both the master (checkbox) and on the slave ("Listen to MIDI Machine Control Input")?

It's just a matter how it's displayed. Some DAWs display C4 as C5, some display (7 bit) program change 0 as 1 etc. The same may apply to CC, that's all.

You're right 7 bit is always 128 steps but it depends if you count from 1 or from 0. If you count from 1 then 128 would be the maximum. I know the 0-127 vs 1-128 scaling can be a problem with program changes, there are two different standards.

Something to do with the CC scaling of your DAW or controller? Normally midi CC values are 0-127, and Spitfire UACC adheres to this standard. Logic for example too. But maybe your controller outputs 1-128? If you try 41 or 43 for spiccato?

The cleanest would be to speed the recording up gradually, like a tape machine. Using for example Logic's Flex Mode "Speed FX", then draw a tempo curve. Of course this also speeds up the end of the recording by 5.9%, but the processing is completely transparent.

My workaround for the moment is to save the desired setting as the plugin default, then select all the desired channelstrips and insert the plugin.

Shouldn't be CPU heavy at all. I used to use the environment a lot for mixing for the same reason but never noticed any CPU increase. This used to be the standard way of mixing in Logic before the audio mixer came along.

Set the transport to where you want the automation point. Select "Create Two Automation Points for Visible Parameter". You can create a keyboard shortcut for this too.

That's the problem. They should be checked. You have to check them, then delete the track again. Or if not, the you have to delete the actual audio object in the environment.

Thanks Paul. Sounds good. I'm using Logic. The easiest may be to just program the unit so it sends out unique key commands for each key (that are unlikely to be used as regular KCs), and do that just once. Logic cam learn any KC that it receives so the definition can be added later in Logic.

I don't think you can. The movie's audio will come out of the system sound out as assigned in Audio Midi set-up, in "Configure speakers". I have mine set up to come out of 7-8 and Logic defaults to 1-2 (or 1-6 of surround) so at least they are on separate outs.

I got it to work! I noticed that if it's a session imported from a previous Logic version, the movie audio seems to default to 1-2, but when starting afresh in 10.1 it works as expected. Thanks!
