    Reaching for "the next level"

Hey @JohnG much love for your thoughts, really. I think the next level is really about having players interpret your composition. So much truth in what you wrote that it really is a case of ‘walk a mile in my shoes’ before you can really appreciate. ♥️ nothing better then a great cue played...

Liine Lemur - Fader default values

While we're at it, here's another one to create a label for that Pad Create a script and call it label On Execution On Load setattribute(Pads,'labels',{'calibrated volume'}); In this script, you specify the object 'Pads' and call the pad 'calibrated volume'. Make sure the Multilabel box is...

Would doing "a song a day" help me speed up the composition process or just result in frustration?

Music is like golf, you play against yourself. Whack @#$&k And like golf, you don’t necessarily get better the more you do it. Handicap ? But you get really good at repeating your bad strokes. There’s always beer after the ninth hole however.

Will a hardware reverb cause latency as well?

Your buffer setting will determine latency overall, soft or hardware verb. I use an outboard lexicon, but when I compare it to Valhalla or B2, with lower buffer settings, it’s all perfectly usable for tracking, imho. But it’s not like the UA cards with set latency on things like the new 480...

A small gift to Logic & Wavestation users

You might be interested in Midiquest pro, it’ll output multi midi instruments with patch info to Logic and you can use it as a plugin too to control the instrument. Just a friendly thought ( and thanks for being generous and giving too, I applaud the effort )

    ASCAP Issues

Last post from me on this point. Saying ‘we’ are screwed is a statement written without much consideration for the myriad of variety each and every creator is faced with. Please consider learning as much as you can about the work that the PRO’s do so as to arm yourself with the proper knowledge...

    Logic Pro 10.4.5 Update

@rhye @whinecellar Yesterday was the first full on day with 10.4.5, I may need to trash prefs etc but here’s what I found- Gui mod people are reporting that there’s a new way in which the mixer graphics are dealt with, and possibly this version is a ‘quick get it out there so we can show...

    Using Cubase at 96K?

You won’t get low latency using USB. Now the distortion makes sense, it’s not able to keep up at a buffer of 128 with a sample rate of 96k.
  10. dgburns

    Using Cubase at 96K?

yeah that’s a sample rate mismatch between your software and hardware. Restart, relaunch and make sure Cubase is controlling the audio driver, imho 96k is different for sure. Still trying to decide if it’s an improvement, lol.

    LogicPro + VEP and AU3

One REALLY great thing about using multi midi objects is that you can populate tracks without cabling them to actual intruments. In theory you could populate every conceivable lib you own without much overhead inside Logic. Also, you can use many single midi objects instead of the multi midi...

    LogicPro + VEP and AU3

@Dewdman42 so any reason why you aren’t just connecting a multimidi object to each ‘port’ . Yes I know there are some downsides, but it would be so much less ‘environment’ screen real estate, not to mention so much less work. imho.

    Logic Pro 10.4.5 Update

Well, actually -while it’s hard to swallow, given that I have a quasi-complicated half working roll your own version working, it took me about 4 years to make, and it’s still not done, and not being dynamic, will never be. I think the DIY version at 500 bucks is interesting. If I had a 500k...

    ASCAP Issues

    Logic Pro 10.4.5 Update

It was a while back, I can go look when I have a sec. Logic will respond to the incoming OSC message once you set up each track in the controller assignments window. It's not fun. Again the problem is managing all those tracks on such a small iPad screen. There's that guy who used to work...

    Logic Pro 10.4.5 Update

I got success remotely selecting tracks in Logic with that Osculator plugin, because it's the only plugin that transmits OSC messages generated from within Logic (that I'm aware of). I was able to select tracks by name by having buttons on the Lemur send out an OSC message that specified the...

    Always use dither when bouncing

@Fredeke NOPE! modern DAWS do not dither automatically. Many have dither options, but when you move in and out of the DAW, you get truncated to 24 bit pcm from 64 float (assuming you're working with a 64 float engine and are writing 24 bit pcm files) No dither required when recording to 64...

    Sonarworks Reference 4

Man, I’m confused about Dirac. How in hell do you use it, is it software? Does it do surround. I wish there was a monitoring box with Dirac built-in. To fully appreciate the improvement/ differences, I would need to hear it side by side against Sonarworks. Yet, you’ve got me intrigued to say the...

Cubase vs logic... is hans zimmer right?

I’m with you Alex, I hear the Logic difference. I can pick it out as well. I also notice that the difference goes away somewhat when you pull up your tracks into Protools. I noticed the biggest sonic difference came from Logic v7 to v8, I liked 7 more, I’m just resigned about it now. I’m not...

    VEPro 7 now available!

I send each mic to it's own output in Vepro, so I expand the Vepro instrument to use three outs each, and set up the automation map in each VePro project for disable/enable and volumes. PITA and time consuming, but once done.... I really wish Vepro would hardwire these two parameters to midi...

I worked with mostly stereo templates until recently. Going to quad meant a rethink about multi mics and how to go about re-imagining the libraries I use. We can disable the audio driver in Logic (the checkbox in the audio menu pref) and this allows a couple things. It turns off the audio, but allows you to open projects rather quickly. Real Talk On Sample Modeling Brass

Sample Modelling Brass is crap. Do not use it on it’s own, it will sound realistic. Do not add reverb, for it will only make it sound better. Do not work the parameters, for it will only make it sound almost as good as a real trumpet, in the right hands. Do not, for Pete’s sake, use the...
