Orangetree Guitars - how to make them sound "thicker" ...?

Interesting. I wonder how CineSine will work on really short notes in a guitar solo, but I might check it out. I was also wondering if bx_subsynth might be able to offer some beefiness in the lower octaves. I've got a 14 day trial of that...

Is Summer Becoming the New Black Friday for Sample Librariesl?

I don't think Summer prices are matching BF prices. At least not on the Sample libraries or plugins I am looking for (unless you're talking about unusual companies like Waves). E.g. some Soundtoys I am after were $29 last BF, and this summer they are $49. Which is OK, because one thing I am...

Orangetree Guitars - how to make them sound "thicker" ...?

I got this week my first Orangetree guitar - Infinity. Really enjoyable, and very playable. I think @gregjazz has done a great job. I am finding that the samples are bright, which is OK I guess because they need to cut through the mix (which they do), but I am also finding them somewhat...

Orange Tree Samples 2019 Group Buy - NOW 60% OFF!!

Just bought and downloaded my Evolution guitar. I've got a question about compression. The .RAR files total to 3.78GB, but when unzipped , they uncompress to only 3.86GB. I was expecting the uncompressed files to be a lot larger filesize than the compressed ones. Unless the .NKX files are...

Yes thats pretty much it. If there are a few longer ones in there (e.g. length of Billy Idol White Wedding intro), that would be perfect, but what was in that audio clip might well satisfy me.

The Performers Anonym Gregorian Choir - Available Now for €69

The promo video didn't include many details about the drones - the "Ah's and Oh's" just focused on the phrases. I am more interested in the former rather than the latter. Perhaps a more comprehensive walkthrough might persuade me.

    Audient iD14 vs Focusrite 2i2 - your opinion ?

Regarding the USB power surge issue with the Audient, I got a response from their support today: It seems rare but there is a risk of surge breaking it, so the reply does not fill me with confidence. 12 Month warranty is actually quite a short time. Is there anything I can do to prevent...

    Audient iD14 vs Focusrite 2i2 - your opinion ?

I am hearing that a few people have had USB surge problems and this has led to their Audient unit breaking. The Audient I think comes with an external power supply as well as the option for it to rely solely on USB power. As far as I am aware a USB surge is when the unit is asking for more...

    Audient iD14 vs Focusrite 2i2 - your opinion ?

Good point. I think the Focusrite has its own ASIO drivers. I am assuming Audient has its own ASIO drivers too, and is good with latency. And does Audient ever go on sale , e.g. Black Friday? Focusrite comes down about 30% in price.

Looking to get a Focusrite 2i2 or Audient. Anyone got any opinions on a comparison between these two? Uses : voice narration, singing, and possibly sampling instruments like piano, guitar, home studio. Also, I know Scarlett 2i2 comes down a lot on Black Friday sale, to about $110 I think, -...

Which choir Library is the best?

I own Requiem Light. Its good value for money with a decent sound but it takes work (programming) to make it sound good. Its not very playable. The Swell is too sensitive, but I can get around this by tweaking the midi input in my DAW.

I am doing some spoken voice narration over a music bed and aiming to offer these for people to listen on their smart phones. I want a good quality, but I dont want a super-large file size to clog up peoples limited phone storage. I was thinking 256k bit rate, VBR. I think Amazon delivers...

    Trying my hand at EDM

Its good. Like the section starting at 2:40 how that transitioned in. The EDM crowd don't like slow starts and yours focused a good 42 seconds on the intro. Cost effective alternative to palette gear - external usb "faders" ...?

Ducking music volume to make way for voice narration - is there a better way than side-chaining ?

I did go for a very subtle side-chain dynamic EQ-ing, and I generally EQ'd the music with a node around the 1k mark with a generous Q (see image below). I think 1k is the middle of where the voice frequency sits and the EQ made a nice subtle hole for it. I'm happy with the result of how it...

Ducking music volume to make way for voice narration - is there a better way than side-chaining ?

true. the long attack and release times help smooth any jumps out. And the trick might also to be not to duck the volume by a huge amount. I posted another thread yesterday on what Spitfire Evolution - type libraries would work as a music bed, so I also agree that the music itself needs to be...

Whats an appropriate Spitfire "Evolutions" library for this purpose..?

Yes, just checked: "Previously known as Evo Grid 2, Fragile String Evolutions ..." @jbuhler I looked at British Drama toolkit, a bit on the edgy side for me. And the way Paul Thompson played it, very melancholy ... which is typical of most of the depressing British drama actually.

Ducking music volume to make way for voice narration - is there a better way than side-chaining ?

I have some voice narration over a music bed. I'd like to lower the volume a touch when the voice is active and have it return to its normal Db when its not active. I know that you can do this using side-chaining (as they do on radio stations), but is there any other way, or is there a plugin...

Whats an appropriate Spitfire "Evolutions" library for this purpose..?

There are a few Spitfire Evo grid libraries out. I am looking for a one that can be put under spoken voice, the genre would be a kind of ambient "meditation" type piece. So I don't want something thats screechy or attention grabbing, but soft, warm, complimentary.. etc. Or maybe you have...

The H3000 native plugin was on sale a few weeks ago for ~$70. I was sorely tempted to buy it but held off. I had a few questions. First I heard that some of the algorithms in the plugin version were not the same as the famous hardware version. Namely the microshifting one (which was my main...

Gripe with Requiem Light choir - frustrating volume jump between dynamic layers ...?

I got Requiem Light choir last year and done one or two pieces with it. I'm reasonably happy with the staccatos and soloist etc, but the longs are frustrating me. SampleRobot, or Samplit or something else for sampling a guitar or piano ?

Why so much hate against USB security dongles (like iLok and Steinberg key)

For me, its the price they charge (I think $25) for the privilege of transferring a license. Good to know that there are actions that look a velocity (volume). I know how to auto-trim with an action in Reaper now, but is it possible to snap the trimmed sample to the region markers. E.g. in the image below, to snap the bass sample to the beginning of the region marker for the start of F#4.

What FX plugins can be used to transform an acoustic sample into a pad or something else interesting

If I have recorded piano samples or guitar samples, what FX plugins could I use to transform them into something else unique and different? E.g. I have Blackhole reverb, I guess that could be used to transform a piano sample into a pad. What else do you use to get creative and make something...

SampleRobot, or Samplit or something else for sampling a guitar or piano ?

Cool. I might download the demo. One thing that worries is that when Windows updates, this thing might eventually break down. I'm also wondering how good the xfade auto-find looping is. That is a bottleneck for me sometimes. I think it does auto-trim too, which will be another time saver.
