Reminds me a bit of GalaXynth. Might be worth a look if you’re into physical modeling stuff.

Can someone explain the transposition trick? (Cinematic studio brass)

Heh. I just posted this in a different thread. Look up J’s Ensemble Maker kontakt script. Essentially what it does is it triggers several adjacent notes from the one you’re playing, then pitch shifts them so that they’re the same pitch as what you’re playing. Same concept as the video posted...

Help me choose the next library

For layering things you may want to check out a Kontakt mutliscript that allows you to also trigger a range of adjacent notes (pitched up/down by the script to match your midi, of course). I use it mostly on guitars, but could possibly work well for orchestral stuff. Think it’s called something...

Heavyocity Punish and Gravity in 2019 - better alternatives?

I also looked at Punish, but frankly wasn't all that impressed by the walkthrough videos. I already have compressors, transient designers and distortions I like to use, that are more flexible and powerful. And since I use Live, I can replicate the "big knob" functionality with Ableton's...

Orange Tree Samples 2019 Group Buy - NOW 60% OFF!!

How would you describe the difference between Rock Standard and Strawberry? Those both appear to be sampled LPs, right? From what I can tell from the site, Rock Standard is newer and significantly larger. Would you recommend that one, over the Strawberry? Looking to pick up 1 versatile...

    You desert island soft synths?

If i have to assign MIDI commands to be able to quickly access plugin features (you have to admit it often takes more than one try to click those suckers off), or zoom the display with the OS zoomer, then that by definition is not good UI design in my view. But I get that it's highly personal...

    You desert island soft synths?

I agree that there is no "best" synth, the question was more about what synths people would choose if they had to limit their selection to only a few (which is what I think I need to do to combat "the tyranny of choice" these days!). Haven't checked out Hive, or much of the other U-he stuff...

    You desert island soft synths?

I think that's exactly my problem with it. Too much is buried under layers of clicking the little magnifying glass. I mean, the default page has what, a couple of ADSRs and a pitch bend range?... And don't even get me started on the ridiculous 2x5 pixel buttons for turning oscillators and...

    You desert island soft synths?

Nothing against FM8, just never got on with it, again mostly for UI reasons. I typically cover FM with Ableton’s operator (4 ops only but pretty awesome that you can draw in your own partials for each!), and lately Aparillo, which although only 2 ops, each op has 16-voices which can be...

    You desert island soft synths?

Oh! I didn't even know they had iOS versions of their synths. Do you know if it's possible to share patches between desktop and iOS versions? Could be cool to design sounds on the go with the iOS app.

    You desert island soft synths?

Yea, Dune 3 is pretty amazing! It seems like it's thought of as a "trance" synth, but it's capable of so much more, like this. I also like Serum, but it can be pretty taxing CPU-wise on my machine. I do really like the clean modulation assignment system though.

    You desert island soft synths?

That one does interest me, but the UI made it a little difficult to get into quickly. Also, considering how poor AIR have been about releasing updates / bug fixes for their products, I hesitate to invest into it. Have been scoping their Drumsynth 500, but will likely pass for that reason.

    You desert island soft synths?

Haven't played with Zebra but that might be one to consider, thanks for the reminder! FM8 is getting a little long in the tooth and while I really dig Reaktor and have made & modded some sweet ensembles, it pulls me too much in the get-under-the-hood and start tweaking shit direction which is...

    You desert island soft synths?

Probably not the only one here with a massive collection of soft synths, most of which I hardly ever touch... So in the spirit of trimming things down to make it more manageable and conducive to creativity, I'm committing to picking a couple of synths that I learn inside and out. When I do...

Native Access updated and left me unable to add library

I think support page on NI may have older versions of Native Access. If you get older version installed, you could try switching off your WiFi before you boot NA, then turn it on after it’s started. Off topic, but that seems like a really silly design - automatically update the app to then...

Komplete 12 worth it for Kontakt 6? (own Komplete 8)

I assume you mean K6, along with all the additional libraries that would be included as part of the upgrade? If so, there’s quite a lot of stuff there that might be useful to you, but of course that depends on what type of sounds you’re looking for. And as above poster pointed out, the summer...

    Kontakt Library organization guide

Interesting approach, thanks for sharing that vid. I’m still baffled as to why pressing next / previous when a patch has been loaded from Quick Load does not go to the next patch in the organized QL structure, but instead the source location. Sure, I can open QL again and drag the next patch...

Stop voice after sample has been released?

I have a few instruments (not my own) that apparently have uneccessarily long samples, on the order of 20-30s. My expectation is that when sculpting the sound with the instrument's ADSR envelope, the voices should STOP after the release segment completes, but that's not what I'm seeing - the...

Dummy question about MIDI usb interface and ASIO

I’d focus on the Disable USB Power Management, and the Adjust Power sections first. Might also be good to know if it’s only specific plugins causing spiking, or if all plugins. And if you have access to a different DAW, you can try that to see if it might be Reaper related.since v2.4...

Dummy question about MIDI usb interface and ASIO

That seems odd. There must be something on your system causing that. I assume you’ve installed the drivers that came with the iconnectivity. What types of drivers do you see available in your host? ASIO? MME? Sometimes multiple different types might be available. ASIO should presumably give you...

    Slate RAVEN vs standard touchscreen?

One thing I forgot to mention - what’s nice about the Cintiq/pen approach is that you can actually rest your palm on the display while you’re editing, and it won’t trigger it - it only responds to the pen tip. With touch screens you’d be hovering your hand(s) over it, which could potentially add...

Spitfire Audio - Hauschka Composer Toolkit ...

My guess is it will be updated, like Albion 1 -> One. Even if it was selling poorly, not like there’s much overhead once a library has been created, just some server space really. If it’s updated, would be interesting to see if they go Kontakt route or their own engine.

    Slate RAVEN vs standard touchscreen?

Thanks! I use the Wacom with a Windows 7 machine, and Ableton Live. Since it's essentially just a mouse (and display), it can be used with any DAW or software. Some imaging software, like the Adobe stuff, can of course use some of the special functions, like pen pressure, etc. There are some...

    Slate RAVEN vs standard touchscreen?

Haha, I'm sorry! But yea, if you're struggling with RSI, give the Wacom a try! There are also other cheaper Chinese knockoffs on Amazon, although the quality is not as high but still pretty useable. I've also struggled with RSI for the past 10 years or so, so I totally relate to your post and...

    Graphics tablet as controller?

If you want to use your phone as a controller, Lemur for iOS (and maybe other platforms by now?) is another one to consider, in addition to TouchOSC already mentioned. I've built myself some nice custom interfaces with Lemur, and hey, the controller's always in my pocket!

    Slate RAVEN vs standard touchscreen?

I don't have any experience with either the Raven or regular touch monitor, but aren't most touch monitors only single point of touch, while the Raven multitouch? What I've found works for me is a Wacom Cintiq 22 pen display. Using pen for precise tasks like MIDI/audio editing is much...

Dummy question about MIDI usb interface and ASIO

Not sure about the particular i7 model, but in general i7 is a good processor. And 32gb is pretty healthy, don’t think that’s your bottleneck, unless you’re also running some other massive Kontakt or Play-based multisampled libraries. (You can check how much ram is in use during a session by...

Anyone able to remove host automation parameters in Xosphere 2?

I'd like to remove the default host automation parameter mappings in Xosphere 2, so that I can remap them to ones that make more sense when using my control surfaces in Ableton Live (which automap the first 8 exposed parameters). But when I select a parameter, the Remove option at the bottom...

Dummy question about MIDI usb interface and ASIO

I think audio drivers DO affect MIDI in the sense that the audio driver defines the processing latency which also affects latency of the MIDI input/output. To the OP - what issues are you trying to resolve / improve exactly? Latency? Number of MIDI inputs? Something else?

I'd check if HHC can output MIDI first, before you go down the drum replacement route. That way you can just set up whatever percussion track you want triggered to receive MIDI in real-time from HHC/Kontakt. Curious to know if this works for selfish reasons too... ;)

    Hip-Hop Creator by Realitone/Mike Greene

No, it's a Max For Live device so it only works with Ableton Live. Another option is something like XronoMorph - it's a standalone app that will send MIDI to any DAW via a virtual MIDI output. https://www.dynamictonality.com/xronomorph.htm

    Hip-Hop Creator by Realitone/Mike Greene

If the instrument is capable of outputting MIDI to outside world, you could enable this in Kontakt's preferences and use it as a sequencer, triggering your own stuff in real-time.

    Hip-Hop Creator by Realitone/Mike Greene

I can’t speak to Mike’s offering as I’ve not checked it out, but what I’ve found works best for me is a combination of using drag and drop midi grooves from various EZ Drummer MIDI packs (triggering my own samples or layering them with the ezd kits), as well as a smattering of Max For Live...

Not sure about the -36 copy error (is the drive formatted correctly?), but maybe sym or hard links could help with the transition? I’ve used this method to successfully move NI stuff around on a windows system.

I buy more than I use, and I forget those I buy

One of the few nice things about running an older os (10.10) is that a lot of new stuff, especially K6-based is now off limits to me. So lately when I get tempted by a new release (and that’s often!) I look at the system requirements and go “oh never mind then!”. Easy peasy.

Mystery CCs Causing me issues in Playback

If you’re using a lot of external midi gear, it’s quite possible there’s some unintended midi back and forth between Live and your controllers.
