    Wet libraries

Very little time beyond the actual composing time. There’s almost zero “post production” to my knowledge. Not just him either - he was just one example I gave as a very obvious one. It does disprove what you said which was that you can only write long note ambient noodles with our wet...

    Wet libraries

Jimmy - that’s demonstrably false by just listening to one or two of Andy Blaney’s demos for the Symphonic series on our website. I’m not sure where this idea comes from that you can’t program musical sounding music with so called “wet” libraries! Although I dislike that division. One...

Spitfire Audio - Kepler Orchestra - Available NOW

Hi all! Glad you are enjoying Kepler! I’ll leave proper advice to the CX team but just anecdotally - it is pretty hungry due to a lot of time machine work going on - with the single core logic thing I’ve found record you sometimes get pops and then playback is fine - I’ve also increased buffer...

How do you use Your reverb on orchestral samples?

This may be of interest - I don’t talk about bussing (may do a separate one on that) but I do go into some detail - might be useful for anyone just getting their heads around the whole reverb thing.

    New Sample Relay Challenge...

Thanks Ironbut! Yes its kind of weird how it all settles out to a perfectly smooth flat surface! Initial estimates were they'd be finished by Feb - its going to have been about 12 months in total. Will be worth the wait though!

    Spitfire Studio Brass

Hey all - Fascinating discussion - really - I'm noting everything I'm reading and sifting through the slight exaggerations to find useful nuggets to work with. I thought you might be interested - in the past 12 months we've released 22 Kontakt product updates and 9 Spitfire plugin updates. 307...

Very perceptive! This is all absolutely correct. In fact, we went back in several times to capture more stuff with the Studio range recordings. We've been working on it for a long time.

    Spitfire Studio Brass

All the best to you as well Piet, we can't all agree on everything. I do seem to remember you describing our musicians in 2013 as an "unenthusiastic, uninterested, untalented, undisciplined high-school band" so I guess these feelings from you do come and go! ;-) Probably a more measured...

    Spitfire Studio Brass

I'm not going to get drawn into creating more little demos to counter what Piet is saying here, as I did before. I'll simply observe that its actually pretty easy to make any sample library sound bad. You find an element that you can expose, say thats quickly moving the modwheel between certain...

    Spitfire Bespoke private range libraries

Thanks for the kind comments and interest! When we made the bespoke series - never originally intended to go beyond some Chamber Strings (its thanks to John Powell that the rest of the range exists - his gentle encouragement!) - and it was a non profit endeavour. Just a way to make some great...

Just HOW Important are Extra Microphones?

Weird! Seems to work ok here. Of course - not anywhere near as good as a real living live player. But certainly usable imho. Just a quick noodle similar to the example posted in one pass with no midi editing. https://www.dropbox.com/s/blbgz22unr3cmo1/Oboe.wav?dl=0

After constantly advising that a decent budget mic should be an early purchase I put my money where my mouth is and put a bunch of great mics on test. All these are sub 1k for a pair.

    Is it legal?

haha!! no don't worry. Glad it was clearer on second viewing!

    Is it legal?

I’m not sure how you manage to get that interpretation! He’s saying precisely the opposite. If you don’t look after your own IP, why should you expect anyone else to value it. ie: look after your own IP. We strongly protect our IP at Spitfire, to the extent of having three independent...

Best courses or resources to learn synth programming from basic to advanced?

This isn't exactly what you are after, but have you seen Christian's "modular Mondays" videos? They start out pretty basic, and he explains the absolute nuts and bolts of the signal flow etc which might help you get a good starting overview of how synths work by seeing how modular synths work...

    New Sample Relay Challenge...

Thanks Ironbut! Yes it was a bit annoying, snow gets in everywhere - such a small gap at the top as well!! Next ep I’ll show the technical drawings and mock-up of the interior. We will see how that translates to reality over the next few weeks!! Some interesting questions about electrics as...

    New Sample Relay Challenge...

Thanks ironbut! The time lapse took some commitment to keep going! Cheers Mike - I love the sound having space to breathe - one of my many past studios had a small vocal booth and you could never really get a great sound in there.. and yes - the most I have to worry about is being hit by a low...

Need experienced Spitfire user willing to help me "massage" my orchestral lines

Hi Kevjazz - These two videos I made may be useful - I hope so! At least you’ll discover how I approach it. I didn’t consider specifically how a legally blind musician might get info from these videos but I hope that my descriptions of what I’m doing are enough? All the best, Paul
