60min speedscoring - now using my own vocal! :O

Hey guys, here is my newest track. Today I decided that I want to include my own voice for making my own sound more personal and for expanding my sonic palette. This is my first take

I know, me neither! But it works really well. Yes, they are - Jubal and Shire flute.

60min speedscoring - now using my own vocal! :O

Thank you! It's a mix of OT Harpsichord (italian version) and NI Session Guitarist Strummed Acoustic 2. There are some adjustements to the sound using dynamic eq and reverb. EDIT: The 6-stringed guitar from NI.

60min speedscoring - now using my own vocal! :O

Decided to do speedscoring daily for min 60 mins, and just have a go at whatever comes out of it. I decide the theme by choosing a picture, and then disconnect internet and phone, and will go with the first idea that presents itself. It's amazing how often I go back to the first take/version...

    Stunning.

Sooo many reverbs but which one would you prefer for orchestral use?

Very interesting! I just bought this plugin myself. Care to elaborate on how you recreated the "Bricasti-sound" using Symphony-plugin?

    John Williams - Leia's Theme - Mockup

The solo horn lines are Samplemodeling, horns a2 or a4 (along with everything else) are Hollywood, and there's some Spitfire solo and chamber strings in there too.

    John Williams - Leia's Theme - Mockup

Really kind of you to share these settings, really appreciate it. I'm new to the Hollywood-series - is the name of the reverb in the horns-patches, the same name as the reverb you have chosen in Spaces? Or did you just choose one with similar settings, like size, reverb-time etc? And what...

    John Williams - Leia's Theme - Mockup

Very well done. I, like you, am a fan of the more close and intimate sound. Too many examples here drowning in reverb, in my honest opinion. Care to elaborate upon how you managed the SM Horn, if that is what you use? What other libraries are in motion here? Thanks for posting, you have got a...

Sonokinetic string-phrases + (insert library) for a "full" string palette

As title indicates, I'm looking for sample-libraries to complete the phrasedriven libraries from Sonokinetic, especially the Sotto and Capriccio. I know of the DaCapo-library from the same company, and if I'm happy with the phrase-libraries, I will consider buying it too. But for now, I'm in...

You are the MAN! Thanks a million for a response like that. With your help, I have learned so much the last 24 hours :D Will try to make version between 2-3, taking your EQ-notes into account and then post the result here. Really love how this forum is full of helpful people! Cheers!

Feedback on structure, form and harmony: Pianosketch for orchestra

Thank for you taking your time to listen closely and follow up with helpful comments! Trying to clear up the mud, give more highs in general and some small volume balancing (choir etc.) What do think of this version?

ELI5: Mixes in headset sounds great, in friends monitor sounds shit - why?

Great advice, makes a lot of sense. I have only been doing the first, boosting everywhere - and it made the track very messy. Will for sure try this alternate method to make more room for the actual instrument. Thanks!

ELI5: Mixes in headset sounds great, in friends monitor sounds shit - why?

Trying to make more space for the woodwinds, rebalanced many instruments that was sticking out, removing spatial placement of sustained cymbals, increasing prescence of pizz bass and reorchestrating to remove muddiness in the mids. Do you think this mix is an improvement from the first version?

Feedback on structure, form and harmony: Pianosketch for orchestra

Tried to make more space for the woodwinds, and also increase the prescence of lower parts without letting them stick out too much. Also reorchestrated a bit to clear out the mid-muds. Do you think this mix is an improvement?

Feedback on structure, form and harmony: Pianosketch for orchestra

Here is the new mix, after rebalancing the woodwinds, reducing reverb, spatial placement of sustained cymbals and clearing up mid-mud by reorchestrating some pieces. Do you think this sounds more complete than the first mix?

ELI5: Mixes in headset sounds great, in friends monitor sounds shit - why?

Point taken! Will try to alter both by changing orchestratin and some cutting to make the overall sound change to the better.

ELI5: Mixes in headset sounds great, in friends monitor sounds shit - why?

Duly noted, I already am hearing something related to strings and piano, so will try to adress that with some EQ and volume-tweaking. But it's true - the original is not treated with EQ at all. I am very new to this, and usually when I try to scope out the "good stuff", it often sounds to muddy...

ELI5: Mixes in headset sounds great, in friends monitor sounds shit - why?

First off - provocative tranquility - I can _really_ live with that description, thanks a bunch! Correct, there are indeed pizz bass going on in the background, but sparsely. On my mix they are already quite loud, so something is certainly a bit off with the mix. And it's true that a lot of the...

Feedback on structure, form and harmony: Pianosketch for orchestra

Heavy on the reverb - noted. I actually composed it all without external reverb, but just added some because.. well, not a really good reason apparently. Will make one more mix with it dialed way down, just to compare. Yes, you are right. They really sound further behind. Need to check the...

ELI5: Mixes in headset sounds great, in friends monitor sounds shit - why?

So, I made a mix after following some of your suggestions: Can I ask you what you think about the sound in general? To much hiss, high frequencies etc? What about the lows? Wandering - Orchestral Projects:

Here is my recent composition, which is my first finished track (!). I started the process by finding motifs, harmony and countervoices with a pianosketch. Newbie asks for help: Choosing a new external soundcard!

I've been using Steinberg CI2+ for almost a decade, and it has been great. Still, I know that the audio-technology have developed far since 2011, and it's time to look for a new card. I only require 1 mic-input per now, low latency, a good headphone-preamp and usb-connection. I have thought...

Yes, mixing in mono is something new for me - really have to look more into that. Just tried my newest mix in plain mono, and it was very hard to separate the instruments from one and another. Think this can be a good way to create a wider listening experience / stereo-field. Thanks for...
