Need a mixing engineer for in-game music

Hi all, I'm looking for a mixing engineer for ingame music on a very interesting project. The budget is not the best, but it's not negligible as there is a price per minute, and there will be around an hour of music. The deadline for the project would be the 10th of August. I would need some...

Cubase (WIN) - end task/process vs normal close

Ah, well if that's the case, then from now on - NO MERCY! :sneaky: :whistling: I literally never opened a project that way, but I presumed that's the case as it actually losses any program changes that one might made. Good to know, but I never use mediabay except for track presets. And I...

Cubase (WIN) - end task/process vs normal close

Yeah, I'm having the same thing with eLicenser, and just a few sec settles it. Ok, thanks for the reply. I just really wonder what's the point of that slow closing and slow RAM unload when obviously RAM is capable to be wiped instantly...or is it?

Cubase (WIN) - end task/process vs normal close

Does anybody knows a real difference between closing an app such as Cubase normally VS ending it in the task manager? Is there any downside if one just always closes it via "end task" (win 10 , aka "end process" in win 7)? Looking at the task manager, I noticed that when I close Cubase, it...

Cubase Midi Recording ahead of the beat!! Whats going on?!

Do you mean you fixed the timing issue with the Retrospective Recording? Or just the normal? I have activated ASIO Latency Compensation for all tracks, and normal recording works fine, just the Retrospective one still writes ahead of the beat around 15ms. This is the case with both C9.5 and 10.

    Best headphones for writing/mixing?

I got both 702 and 271mkII. They are miles apart both in sound quality/stage and comfort. And yes, headphone amp is important, but you just might have enough power on yours. So just try it out, if there is no enough output, research and buy something decent. I'm using mine with RME HDSPe AIO on...

    Best headphones for writing/mixing?

@OleJoergensen Sonarworks actually "dulls" AKG 702 down as 702s are pretty boosted in the high end. It's shocking at first and not fun to listen to at all but MUCH!!! better for mixing. What you are refering as dull just might be the linear(-ish) response. Once your ears are used to it much more...

Cubase question: inactive Vst and latency

It depends on the plugin, I noticed they behave differently. But you can disable the plugin by holding Ctrl + click on it (win). That should do it and you're still left with it in the sloth ready to be enabled.

    Kontakt multiprocessor support, preload buffer?

The machine with the problem was 12 core, so that is what I set since. Now it went to slaves and the new master has 16, and that's the setting selected in Kontakt. Now, I haven't ever tried the half of available cores, I might try it, but I wouln't try OFF again.

    Kontakt multiprocessor support, preload buffer?

Following forum advices I once disabled Kontakt's multicore support, and I remember I had issues with a heavy library patch that I resolved by enabling that back. I kept it ON since.

    Windows 10’s May 2019 Update

FLS Slot Limit Increase: Microsoft raised Windows 10’s FLS (Fiber Local Storage) slot allocation limit. This is particularly useful for musicians, who will be able to load more unique plugins into their DAWs (digital audio workstations.) This will also aid any other application that wants to...

[Real violin track added] Graceful, romantic orchestra (VSL Violin, woodwinds and CSS)

i don't really have much experience with this style so i would not like to vouch for any specific library as it might turn out limited for what you need. What I'm trying to saying (in a really messy way) is that you should really research any library to make sure it really got everything for the...

[Real violin track added] Graceful, romantic orchestra (VSL Violin, woodwinds and CSS)

Hey there! Nice work, love the writing. So sorry for saying this, especially since you invested so much time making that violin, but for me, everything else sings but violin. It so fake that it ruins the rest, too much volume automations that should, Im guessing mimic the dynamics, but they...

    Medieval-movie soundtrack

The instrument on 0:05 (dulcimer?) is ahead of time of the first bowed one. The groove of the bowed one is quite good, match the dulci to it (by ear ofc, not by midi notes). Also, make dulci snapier with less release/sustain/tail, as Marc said it's very washy and it's rhythm is drowned.

Cubase vs logic... is hans zimmer right?

Although how big of a differrence is wasn't the subject, I generally absolutely agree. That's why I pass further research on the subject...except maybe finally watch the video @Dewdman42 posted. It was always too long to bare.

Cubase vs logic... is hans zimmer right?

Well, technically... 64bit has less rounding errors (the whole point of it), which means less noise (right?)... which means, someone with golden ears and great system/room COULD hear it. In my book, examples for golden ears are Hans Zimmer and Eric Persing of which both are claiming PT sounds...

Cubase vs logic... is hans zimmer right?

Might not be called Inspector, it's the track menu on the left with many controls. Try adding 30db of gain on low level audio (-40db signal for example). And I'm not speaking of converter clipping, there is no peaking above 0db digital scale. And I'm not sure, as far as I know, how you can...

Cubase vs logic... is hans zimmer right?

I'm talking about Gain feature in the inspector. It doesn't work like in PT (clip gain) or Cubase, but it behaves like an analog desk, more you push it, more saturation is introduced. (At least my friend's version behaved like this). In PT and Cubase you just get pure gain with no distortion. In...

Cubase vs logic... is hans zimmer right?

It seems that Logic has some kind of analog mixing desk simulation goin on. By pushing Gain (in the inspector on the left) saturation algo is in process. I recently discovered this by sending somewhat low volume Cubase tracks to a friend for mixing and I expected from him to just add Gain - a...

Cubase 10..... to Update or Buy Full?

As already stated, with a single license you can use any version (together running parallel on a single system) you want. But there might be a benefit to you of keeping the old and having 2 Cubase licenses.

    Cubase 10.0.20 released

Hm, I'm getting some weird freezes with a bunch of multi-out instr.tracks disabled. I just disabled them in my existent template and when I stop playback, there is a freeze for a 2-3 sec, so everything stops and only after those 2-3 sec the reverb tails are heard. Also, often there is a delay...

    Scoring my first feature film

It isn't lacking depth to me. The overall sound is indeed front-ish, but that suits the style of the score and there is a very nice sence of depth between dry, solo instruments and synths at the front and ensembles in the back. Did you use convolution verbs?

Congratulations! Sounds beautiful, a really nice and fun to listen. Would you share some more details about the process? How much of it is live and how much sample-based? Did you mix it yourself or hired an engineer?

    My tracks are too quiet...

No worries Agondonter, glad you found it helpfull. In 32 bit floating point there is no clipping while you are working in a clean daw that doesn't have any analog simulations going on. Cubase is such a DAW. The red channel flashing is just an indicator that you have peaks over 0db digital...

    My tracks are too quiet...

It seems there is some confusion between analog and digital audio here, and I would like to share some things I learned over the years, maybe someone find it usefull. And please correct me if I'm wrong. There is no "efficient, healthy" capturing audio from a sample library. OP is not recording...

    Cubase 8.5 Output Routing Bug?

If there was a way to change output for multiple i.tracks at once in the Project Window, I'm not aware of it. I don't think there is - pls correct me, I would love that option. But, if you are not able to SELECT multiple tracks in the P.Window using SHIFT or CTRL (never had that one), then...

    Cubase 10.0.20 released

Yeah, that's something wrong on your end as render in place shouldn't behave like that. Maybe try trashing prefs and try again? The DRY setting should transfer everything(plugs, automations, etc...), but with other options you should get your fader on 0, no automation transfer.

    Love for Windows 10

Woa, that's brave man. I went a completely opposite route, LTSB version with delayed updates/features. Got burned two times with forced updates on a regular Pro v. I love LTSB so far, 0% instabillity. The only, rather unfortunate, thing is that the upcoming big update lifts FLS limit on...

Cubase & VE Pro - Taking AGES to load project

Hi, How many total tracks/patches/audio returns are we talking about? 20 mins surely sounds off. Are you saying that those 20mins Cubase need from the moment VEP finished loading everything? Are you on a single machine (pc or mac?) or master/slave setup? What exactly is happening during...

    Vepro templates, a crazy thought

True that. I would gladly share my template with you. What DAW do you use? If Cubase, I could send you both VEP projects as well as Cubase track presets, then you just connect the two. What libs do you use? Hollywood orchestra among others maybe? I have all 4 H-libs set as a patch per track...

One big VEP samples server or two smaller ones?

I have 2 slaves and 64gb master. These 64gb I don't use anymore as I moved ALL of my libraries (except synths) to my slaves and with that saved a lot of CPU cycles on my master for "mixing as I go". A major workflow improvement for me. So maybe consider going with 32gb master and leaving more...

Maybe some of the ample sound basses (precision maybe) could help you as those sound the most real to me. Help with my new Cubase 10+VEPro template

Yeah, that is exactly a behavior I was experiencing yesterday but along with the Cubase being unresponsive at the same time with VEP looked like being the culprit. I would try loading the same samples in Cubase only (load Kontakt multis). In my case a reset took care of it, but it seems you...
