Timpani - how to notate tremolo with accents?

What Nick said. Sometimes I use a dashed slur in Finale for such things to show the connectedness, if that's what I want. Works for unmeasured string tremolos as well.

+1 for Ernest Cholakis' IRs and approach. I use them in Vienna Suite, although he has recommended LiquidSonics Reverberate as well.

    An exercise in Counterpoint

I like to use a very simple definition of a suspension: Delaying the descending stepwise motion to a consonance, creating a pleasing strong beat dissonance with the bass (and other voices) that resolves down by step.

    An exercise in Counterpoint

OK, very good. You have a very good sense for how these composers "divided" or filled in larger intervals with passing tones. Next thing to work on might be suspensions. For that, there is no better method than species counterpoint.

Increase Gain in VE Pro or in the DAW

I have come to the conclusion that it is better to mix other libraries down to the Spitfire levels in VE Pro and then rebalance in the DAW, especially just in the final stereo bus. This ensures that I always have headroom to "goose" a track when mixing the stems.

    Audiobro Modern Scoring Brass (MSB)

I bought it because I knew I needed it. It does things that VSL and HB don't do in my workflow, and I know it will stay in my template because LASS has outlasted a lot of other libraries for me. I held off on Berlin, Cinesamples, and Spitfire brasses until this came out and I am glad I did.

VSL instrument licenses vanished from e-licenser

I kind of look at it like a foreign car. If I really want to own and drive a SAAB, I need to know that it will be a little bit expensive and and a PITA if i need to have it serviced, or if it needs a new water pump. If I like the SAAB enough, then I put up with it. I like VSL enough (more than...

VSL instrument licenses vanished from e-licenser

The hub has its own supply. First thing I tried when having trouble was plugging the dongles directly into the Mac chassis USB. Same behavior when it happened. I am starting to suspect my PSU now, unfortunately... In the mean time, I do have another response from VSL saying that actually in my...

VSL instrument licenses vanished from e-licenser

It got weirder. I was able to do a "reset" on my USB by unplugging everything. Tried the errant dongle one more time and *presto* it showed up in eLicenser. Maintenance did not succeed (could not "clean up memory" or something like that) but I figured I had one more chance with zombie dongle...

VSL instrument licenses vanished from e-licenser

No. I am out of warranty. And the deal that they are offering is a lot less than 50%--I would be apoplectic if I had to pay that to replace 33 instrument licenses. The other thing I can do going forward is to pay for their maintenance guarantee, which is 70 Euros every two years. But I guess I...

VSL instrument licenses vanished from e-licenser

Hi everyone, I recently was having some trouble with one of my elicensers and decided to move all of my VSL stuff to a newer dongle. Worked fine--I have my template on a single machine. Can't revert to a backup? I don't know if Cubase keeps a backup folder. I would be trying to reset the SR manually for your interface and then opening a backup file, if possible. You can also defeat it by playing a ghost note out of range before releasing. Another thing you can do is build an x-fade matrix that includes legato/sustain.

Can you give me a rundown or screen shot of your VEP Instances prefs? Another thing to tweak would be the video resolution on your slave. Since VEPro is not spiking, the issue may well be the on-board ethernet. I have never used VEPro Server in a peer-to-peer direct connect. Always through a...

You, um... what? I don't think this is how MSB is intended to be used. I also am wary of demos performed/programmed with other libraries being run through a new one--- These instruments need to be performed and it takes time to learn to play a new library. Downloading MSB now, myself.

    La scoring strings (lass)

The real power of LASS for me is in the section divisi, legato soprdino and Auto Arranger. I don't think you get all of that with the Lite version. LASS is close recorded needs to be mixed to taste, but gives you everything you need to accomplish a wide range of mixes and feels.
